Well Boys, Just Bought Me a Desert Bighorn Hunt.

Wives often don't put the kibosh on an idea if it is unlikely to happen, or at least in the foreseeable future. Heck, many go along with it, cheerfully agreeing to "someday honey" purchases like a Corvette, Ferrari, safari, or banging Shania Twain.;) Then the guy gets the floor jerked out from under him so fast that he didn't even notice the noose he was wearing the whole time. Tricky and devious, some of those wimmings.cou:

Mine will say yes to what ever I want to do, but she'llbank it for something she wants and then I can't really say no. So for every buck I spend on hunting and fish I know I have to have double that for some trip she wants to go on

Awesome news, Douglas... look forward to the story for some vicarious gratification... I can't imagine the stars ever aligning to make a dessert sheep hunt a reality in my future.

Bruce and Doug that was a joke ... as this year in Yukon February was georgous ....

i walked in the Aouk around ndele in the Bamingui in CAR after kudus and i met +46c and that was enough for me ....

Mine is happy with gold and sapphires and diamonds.............not a bad deal actually because that stuff is only a few grand........unlike my hunts.........

Yes, the simplest and most direct strategy is usually the best. Raccoons, women and walleye will go for the shiny thing every time.;) If you run out of ideas, just start another lap and upgrade everything.

DL......you forgot ravens and pack rats..........

BUM.........Yep I get to bang things all over the globe...........jealous?:cool:

SB........I'm still perfecting mountain climbing in my rubber boots and Velcro gloves.....;);)

lol.... It's a badass hunt..... And a very majestic animal..... I truly look forward to stories and results........

And no age joke here, but I truly appreciate your tenacity and sincerely hope I can replicate it..... I have just recently at 41, gained enough income that these hunts even start to get my radar.... (Ok, I am nowhere near affording this one) .....

But, you never know...... Life is a journey....

Desert Bighorn hey! Nice. That will be a welcome addition to your new room. I bet your # 2 son is doing backflips. Hunt of a lifetime. Looking forward to your updates c-fbmi

Every one is the hunt of a lifetime CW......no two hunts ever go the same.......I just hope I still have what it takes when it comes time to climb..........I am relatively certain I can still do it as long as I don't have to rush. Mongolia and climbing for my Altai wasn't that many years back..........actually did more hiking and climbing for Ibex and never got within range of any.........

Don't know what "Seafoam shooters" might be but it sounds more like it would be the end of me.........probably blow out a lot more than the cobwebs, I suspect.

I am in a bit of a dilemma in regards to rifles. I have my super light 700 Ti in 300 WSM that I built for just such occasions as this and I did use it with flawless success on blacktails last fall, of course the longest shot was maybe 75 mtrs so not much of a confidence inspiring work out. But besides that I have no history with this rifle. On the other hand I have my old faithful 700 Rem in 300 Wby which has accompanied me over much of the globe and I have the utmost confidence in. It isn't a club either as it's in a Kevlar stock as well and is only about 7 1/2 lbs all up. Trajectories to 500 mtrs are almost identical as I shoot 200 gn ABs in the 300 Wby and my 700 Ti loves 150 gn TTSXs so as far as hold goes there would be no difference..............So you see my dilemma, a once in a life time crack at a desert ram......do I take old faithful in which I have rock solid confidence or do I take my very expensive, special build for precisely this kind of hunt, rifle, that I am only moderately familiar with. Then there is my 7mm RUM which has proven it's self out to 400 mtrs and shoots 3/4 moa groups and has a trajectory like a tight piano wire. It too is not a heavy club, but does have a 26" barrel and is in a wooden stock, but I can change that in about 15 mins..........Then there is my 257 Wby, which shoots less than 1/2" groups when I do everything right, and also as flat as tight piano wire........again, 26" barrel and wood stock but easily changed out........In all reality though it is between my two 30 cals, I have many rifles that would serve perfectly for a hunt like this but I think it comes down to those two.

First world problems, I know, but of great concern to me none the less.
