The three groups i shot. middle group is ae 223 in 55 grain, the other two groups are Remington hollow point i think 40 grain. All shots were done from the prone at 100 meters



And the rifle its self. I also have another type 97 with the full type97.ca mod. This one is a shooter with the right ammo. These are fun little guns and cheap for what they are.

Angry, I found pretty much identical results of around inch and a half groups with 55gr fmj bulk at 100m.
I had four other friend try it out and all achieved the same and some better.
That is straight out of the box with iron sights.
 
my other type 97 is scoped with a flat top rail and the type 97ca lower and upper and does not shoot this well. I guess i got lucky. My pistol shooting today looked like i shot the target with buckshot.
 
I admit that I can be a fair shooter on a good day, but do not consider myself top shelf as it were.
I have some thrity odd years in the CF, my other four friends averaged thrity to forty years shooting in the CF too.
Sadly, annual qualifying shoots don't do much for us.
The newest guy was one friends son with ten years as a reg engineer.
We were all able to achieve and inch and a half or better. without too much effort.
I think it was Wolf 55gr FMJ.

Are the differences between individual T97s really that immense?:sok2
 
Those are the types of groups I get with my M305 bedded with NM sights and match ammo at 100 meters
The T97 I owned shot groups 10 to 15 times those with the stock irons and GOOD ammo.
You could sell that thing on the EE as the only accurate one Canada for a mint! lol

I've never seen one in person shoot better than 4-6 MOA regardless of who shot them and that was including my own.
I sold mine because it was one of the most inaccurate rifles I have ever owned and it had numerous feeding problems.
It pained me too because I liked the design and really wanted it to be a good firearm. Simple, beefy, rugged and compact but there is not an inch of space in my small locker for a rifle that is neither accurate or reliable and especially both!
Good riddance....
 
I will be honest that the first 500 rounds through this rifle was a pain in the ass. I was using a grease to lube instead of oil. When it was clean it worked great but as soon as it got even a bit dirty it wouldent cycle, feed and i also found a burr on the bolt locking lug. After 1500 rounds it shoots great. As for my other type 97 fully dressed in the tpye97.ca swag, it only has around 500-100 rounds through it so its not shooting as well as the stock rifle. I think there is a long break in period with these rifles, I run them pretty oily and use what ever mags i have on hand including pmags, lar 15, gi mags, and what ever i can find at my local gun shops. just keep shooting them and they seem to work and shot better.

Like I said 55gr bulk I get like 2-2.5"

69-77 gr match ammo both of mine average probably 1.5"ish groups.

Couple 1.75", couple lucky 1" groups.

Edit: as a comment at the above, I run mine almost dry. Thin film of oil.

With a scope? Or with irons?
I could not manage even 4-5" groups with good ammunition at 100 meters using the stock iron sights. Hell that was best case scenario.
I think I even did a review on it ways back. I had a 10 shot group that was closer to 8-10"
Of the 3 I've seen (mine included) and seeing others shoot them who I would deem better shots than me even, that was about the average in stock config.

I'm no sponsored shooting whiz there but most people who know me would consider me a decent shooter. Maybe I got a lemon!?
I really REALLY wanted it to be a better rifle. It was one of the harder disappointments I had to take from trying a new firearms :(
