Some calibers it's best to buy loaded ammo to accumulate brass for reloading. But for some calibers it's actually cheaper to buy the brass and components. I've found 44 special to be like that. Starline brass is readily available (Budget usually has it in stock), and the bullet barn has decent prices on bullets. Once you have the brass, most gun stores have the other components

Save your brass and then sell it to offset the cost of new ammo.
I do save all my brass. Put it right back in factory box. How much would one sell brass for anyhow. Say 500 rounds?
