The amount of money I spent last year on 2 savages and 2 CZ's numerous optics and a ton of expensive ammo to get mediocore results. When I could have gone right to a used annie and saved myself some grief.Seriously though its been a lot of fun and 0 regrets.I have been very frustrated at times trying to complete the 50 yd challenge and never gave up.The anschutz make the challenge effortlessly.I shot the first target with no warm up shot last sunday.I managed to sneak out today and shot a few more groups testing a new batch # of center x.The first group had a cold bore flyer and then it shot well like my other batch
I even had time and distance to try a 81yd group[max range I had]
Now if only I could afford a 1913 BR50.Ive never seen one on the EE

Yeah I first hemmed and hawed about getting a 1712 model then went for a CZ instead. We all know how that turned out for me. It did lead me to my Weatherby with anschutz 64 action though. I would not have been looking through the EE were it not for the CZ Blues. All's well that ends well!

Somewhat similar situation but I sold a 452 American/Australian and Varmint to finance a Remington 40XB.
Since then I have bought a 455 American and Varmint (laminate thumbhole stock).
The Varmint is about to get a bedding job with pillars followed by the American. They are gopher guns but there is always a variation with each range session and hopefully that effect can be lessened.
The was an old cowboy who said he spent most of his money of women and liquor . . . the rest I just wasted!
Now we have a Savage Canuck who spent his money of CZ's and Savage's rather than wasting it on Anschutz's.
Is there any resemblance?

Can't be me I don't drink!

Everyone should have at least one gun that makes it feel easy. Something that can reliably get results like that.
Bring it along when you are doing load development for a finicky rifle or anything else that might be frustrating to get good groups with. Then shoot the reliable performer before you leave the range and know that all is not lost. Go home with something to smile about.

When I got back into shooting a little less than two years ago, I bought a new 64 MPR from Nordic, it was instant happiness. Soon after, the Anschutz rifles in my safe started to self replicate to an unhealthy amount. I've got CZ's, Savages, Rugers and a 40XB. Other than the 40X, nothing compares to the feel or accuracy of the Anschutz rifles.

^^^^^ But finding it is the hard part lol

Its amazing how true that is, some guns you can just pick up and shoot accurately, while others need some tweaking.

My CZ is pretty close to filling the bill but I would love to spend some time at the bench with a high end Anschutz.
The Model 41 I traded to my father was close too perfect in the handgun department. I have to work at it to get results that make me smile but it's certainly capable. The quest continues...

Congrats to the OP on a lovely gun and those targets didn't just happen without some skill behind the trigger either!

I agree... My Cooper is on par with my Annies but never found anything that will beat them!

Ain't that the truth.

My first CZ, a 455 American, behaved very much like the OP's [correction: RabidM4U5's] CZ. It was inconsistent and unpredictable. I wasn't sure that it wasn't me that was the problem until I got a 452 American and it shot as it should, which is very well. The 455 A is better now, but it had to be fixed with a new barrel and pillar bedding. My first Anschutz was a CIL Anschutz Model 125 (same as the Anschutz 1400) with a Flobert II action. It was a good shooter. Then I got an MPR and haven't looked back. I've picked up a few more Anschutz rifles, a few more CZ's too, but I don't see myself getting any more CZ's, only Anschutz's. They are the cat's meow.

Yup sounds familiar. With the CZs I was always wondering if it was me for those flyers or .3 group jumping to a .75.I haven't done anything different in my shooting technique and with the anschutz I now get consistent groups with nary a flyer. I have only shot about 250 rounds out of it and have completed the challenge 3 times already with it.Yes it likes expensive ammo but it gets the results. I'm going to treat it to a brick of midas next and see if the group's get smaller than the center x.Good fun.

savagecanuck…I'm going to take your advise and go for an Anschutz. Been sitting on the fence about buying a "Quality" bolt action.
Your's shoots great groups but what I find more amazing is the amount of snow you have in late April..

Yes you won't regret the Annie, I'm seriously considering a 1913 br50 next time Nordic has a sale and if I get a tax refund!
We have no snow here in Kelowna as the rifle pic was an older one from January. We have had summer here for a month with the warmest April on record by almost 2.5 C higher than average. When you get the Annie post up some pics.

I tried to make the 1/2 challenge 3 or 4 time last year with my CZ 452 Varmint and I always miss it by a flyer or two out of 5 groups... So maybe its the rifle...or me.

I bought a +10% firnig pin spring this winter and a small flag to read the wind, that should help a bit to achieve the challenge.

This year I have the budget to buy my first Anschutz so we'll see how I shoot with it.

I must admit that for the price I paid my 452, I would be a fool to sell it.
