As I posted in the 2016 turkey hunting thread, our vehicle was vandalized on the morning of the turkey opener. Someone threw a fist size rock through the back window of our car. I just got off the phone with the MNRF. They told me to contact the Enforcement Unit main office in S.S. Marie and give them a report. Their phone number is 1 (877) 847-7667. They took a report and advised th will have the local conservation officers step up patrols in the area. The call taker was very happy that I called. If anyone in Ontario experiences vandalism that may be related to hunting, call the toll free number and report it. I hope stuff like this never happens to anyone on here.

My buddy had his truck keyed down the drivers side after we parked it on side of the road couple winters ago coyote hunting. His back window is covered with hunting stickers and I think some blood leaked out on tail gate or bumper. They are lucky we didn't catch them because my buddy treats his truck like his child...he was mighty pissed, as he should be

Sorry to hear that. The next time I go up, I am taking a friend from work. One of us will watch the car. Anyone messes with it will be attested for mischief.

Hear stories like this coming from Ontario, where someone is trespassing or hunting on someone elses territory. You guys apparently have some real bastards down there.

Grizz

Most of Ontario is excellent hunting...... Unfortunately, the southern area around Toronto holds most of the population...... And that where most of these incidents occur.....

I'm in the hamilton area and haven't hunted for the last couple years around here. There was farmland at the end of our street where we had permission to hunt and my father had hunted for about ten years. Then some tree huggers (I assume live on my street) who walk their dogs out there (and who also don't have permission as the owner lives out of town and most don't know who owns it) started wrecking our ground blinds, tree stands, and stole our deer cams. We ended up going through about 10 cams trying to catch them. It didn't matter that I welded boxes around them because they would come out with tools to cut the chains that held them to the tree.
The wireless back up types suck too as they take about 20 seconds to send the pictures to the backup box and if you turn them off before hand then you still don't get the picture of the thief.

Also a word of warning to treestand users.
My neighbors tree stand was tampered with. It was appalling what he said.
Someone climbed up and instead of cutting the security chain, they cut about 3/4 of the way through the nylon strap that held it tight to the tree.
When looking at it from the ground you would think all is fine and climb right up and in. Once you put all your weight on, the strap would probably break the rest of the way and send you falling to the ground.
Luckily he noticed it before stepping on.

Yup some will go that far.

Steve the tampering you describe is certainly more than simple vandalism. Hopefully these sick people get what's coming to them. Stuff like this demands serious police attention in my opinion.

It was a couple years back. If I were him then I probably would have called the authorities but I don't think he did anything.
It definitely makes you keep your eyes open.
If i ever go back out again around here, I'll just stick to ground blinds, they are safer anyways haha

Not really smart when you think that if they run into the owner of that tree stand, he'll probably be armed and both of you will be in the middle of nowhere. I haven't had it happen to me but I do worry about it. I inspect my stands carefully before climbing in. Someone has been hanging branches in fronting my camera but so far, that's it.

Had the straps on my ladder stand removed. No point in putting a stand at that spot and just use my climber. Some people are idiots.
