Exporting Milsurps from the US.

IRG will probably be able to import them for you. Will cost you a fee to import though, above the cost of the item. Check with them.

I Run Guns is the last guys I would go with. I shipped a Long branch No. 4 Mk 1 (t) with them and advised them many times that the gun was Canadian made at Long Branch Ontario, and it should not be subject to duty. They ignored that and I was charged duty. When I challenged them on this, I got the "too bad, so sad treatment". Go with Borderview International. Much better to deal with during multiple transactions since then.

By time your done importing its going to cost you at least as much as just buying one in Canada, plus it will have import markings on it.

400$ US+shipping and taxes, lets for sake of argument say roughly 500$ US after all that. Your now looking at 629.54$ Canadian, plus it hasn't even hit Canada yet. Add a 200$ processing fee for bring it across the border, your at 829.54$ Canadian. If you add duty on that your looking at closer to 900$ Canadian.

The M39s on the EE have mostly been in Canada for a while, they aren't rare rifles here. They only really went up in price recently, primarily due to demand from people who have just been told that the M39 is the nicest Mosin, and have never actually handled one. As little as 2 years ago they were selling in the 400$ range.

With the US dollar the way it is and import fees, it isn't worth it unless it's something you can't find up here.

Prophet River is the place I use and the service is outstanding.

I have used Irunguns once and was very satisfied with the service. It cost me around $350 cad to bring in a milsurp (rifle price not included).
Like it as been said with the exchange rate at the moment it's only good if it's something you cannot find up here. I have also heard great comments about Prophet river, ###### Armory and wanstalls.
Using one of those is very easy and all done over the internet (at least for IRG)
IRG or any other importers/brokers have no say at all on what has duties or not... Canadian customs decides this. Good luck toTry and argue with them....
I suspect if any other importer dont charge this is because they either assume the lost or most likely combine the fees with something else.
Now how some handle complaints or demands that's another story.
And unless things have changed in the recent months milsurps do not get new import markings when entering Canada... no idea about new guns though.

So Classic Firearms in North Carolina has a large stock of M-39's.

https://www.classicfirearms.com/finnish-m39-mosin-nagant-rifle-762x54r-sako-mfg

They will ship to any FFL they have on file in the US...

So now I need to find one that will ship to the People's Republic of Kanada.

Is this a relatively straightforward process?

Is this why I keep seeing M-39's up in the EE?

Fees and gst will add up to approx 350-400$....plus the 30% exchange rate...expect that $400 us rifle to cost you about $800-850 cdn to walk in the woods with it.

And yes, I've imported several rifles and a restricted from the 'States.

I have used prophet river once, and they are ok too. However, Not correct about import duties. If the broker takes the time to read your emails, he fills out the form correctly and there are no duties for importing a Canadian gun back into Canada. Have done this a few times now.

In the case of I Run Guns, multiple messages were sent advising them of the Canadian weapon being imported. In spite of this, messages were ignored, duty was paid, and then they used the term...
I am sorry but you have to pay the duty... It is a lot better than customs seizing your rifle./

I paid the duty and have learned my lesson about dealing with IRG.

Oh man... they don't make it easy to bring a 75 year old rifle across an imaginary line...

No wonder $150 barrels cost $400 plus up here.

I have brought back a NO. 4 Mk 1 (T) LB and a Brit No. 4 Mk (T), and I am in the process of bringing back another No. 4 Mk 1 (T) LB and none have been marked with any US stampings.

I agree that less expensive guns do not make sense to bring across when exchange, duties, taxes and import fees come into effect. But for some guns/rifles, it does make good sense.

BTW, Prophet River brought one of my rifles from Lloydminster to the Calgary gun show at no additional cost, so they truly are a good group to deal with.

However, Borderview is located in Lynden, Washington, so they are very easy to get to from B.C.

Since everyone is hoarding their good Lee Enfields up here I had to bring two in from the US a couple of years ago. Used Borderview and service was great plus I don't think all the fees added up to $200 per rifle. I'll definitely do it again when the exchange rate strengthens. I should note that at the time the two Lee Enfields were cheaper than I could have bought them up here even including the extra fees.

Not sure where you got this information but it's wrong. There are no import marks on guns coming into Canada. Many people here have imported without import marks -- maybe someday down the road though.

There is the threat from our "sunny daze" leader who is talking about signing the UN treaty which would require country of origin stamps to be put on weapons. That will certainly destroy some of the value of the millions of historical weapons that in our history, was used to oppose tyrannical regimes...

I am not saying it will be marked coming into Canada, I am saying it was already import marked coming into the US. Since 1968 the US has required all firearms imported into the States to be import marked. The type and size of marking will vary depending on when and who did it, however it will still be marked. The vast majority of M39s in the States will be import marked because of this. The particular site that the OP listed says they brought them in over the last 25 years, which means they will be import marked.

You are correct with that. Enfields in the states are usually stamped "England" as they were imported to the US shortly after the war.

I will buy all the $400. M-39s you can find me.
