I need advice on how to make shotshell blanks.

I have tried just removing pellets from live rounds, leaving the powder and plastic wad and then re-crimping the top, however, when fired these rounds are only about as loud as firing a .22 short. I need blank rounds that will make a loud bang.

I do not have a shotshell reloading press, nor any primers, however, I do have a lot of 12 ga rounds and FFF black powder available. Any good suggestions?

I was hoping that someone on this reloading forum would have first-hand experience in converting live rounds into blanks. However, thanks for the suggestions to check elsewhere... I will search the internet for advice on making 12 ga blanks (and check back here later).

I have never made a shotshell blank. Nor I have I watched a video on how to do it.

But I assume the shell needs very fast powder. Bullseye comes to mind.

And it needs some weight to the wadding. cardboard wads, perhaps?

And be very careful with the muzzle. A shotshell blank will kill.

Black powder blanks are very loud. Needs immediate cleaning after use. Same caution applies - muzzle control, wads can be dangerous projectiles.

Sounds like it could get hazardous..
