Rimfire Steel Challenge in Kelowna

How about the lower mainland? Anyone interested in trying this here. I can make the targets. But dont have a timer.

Build some and practice and then we can hold matches. We'll both bring our targets and stands to some halfway point, the boonies south of Merritt?, and have the Okanagan/Lower Mainland Rimfire Rifle Steel Challenge series.

This could be catchy.
we have had Steel Challenge running at the Vernon range , just fun stuff so far, and a couple of us shoot .22
Never heard of Kelowna steel til now , might make for some fun rivalry.
We are having Metallic Silhouette Mondays also.

Not sure I would be quite as competitive time-wise but it sure looks like fun. I am close by too...

Just PM me if you want to come up and give it a try, we shoot Sunday mornings usually. All you need is a semi .22, ear and eye protection and a lot of ammo. We can even supply you with a gun if all you have is ammo:)

Do you set up all the stages or just one at a time like we do? Mainly handguns or are they .22's rifles? You are of course welcome to come down to shoot on Sunday also if you would like.

Might just take you up on that. I have both gun and plenty of ammo!

I can't call up the link on my iPad. Just wondering what kind of .22s are you using? Mainly, semi auto rifles like 10/22s and Rems?
Also what kind of mag cap?
Chilliwack F&G has a Steel Shoot every month. Very well attended!

10/22's are the weapon of choice, with one 597 attending sometimes. Just stock 10 rounders are all that's needed as each string is only 5 targets and IIRC the rules state 11 shots max per string. (but that might be NSSF Rimfire Challenge rules) You can use 25's but they are just heavy and cumbersome and slow down your swing. It's just my back yard so pistols would be illegal:)

Are you doing true Steel Challenge stages or just made up steel shooting stages? Either way they sure are a lot of fun, aren't they?

The shoot is run by our local IDPA chapter. I've actually never shot it as I don't own a .22 pistol. And 9mm gets pricey esp with shooting IDPA also!

Steel challenge - one stage at a time, three or four go's per shooter, then set another

Silhouette so far is 22 rifle and/or handgun, with some 'open' handgun, its all loosy goosy
Going to Oliver tomorrow to check out an official match

Nice, I used to shoot .22 Silhouette when I lived down on the coast. It was fun but I like the Steel Challenge type shooting better.

I hope you'll come and shoot with us once in a while, I'm nowhere near as far away as Oliver and we need more competitors.

TEG came over yesterday and we set up "Smoke and Hope" This is a close up very fast stage with a best time going to me with a 2.10 second pass with most around 2.3-2.4 seconds. TEG had a 2.13 with lots at 2.3-2.5 seconds. What a great way to burn through a few hundred rounds in a hurry, lol.

We're still looking for a few more competitors, is there no one in Kelowna that wants to have some fun with their semi auto .22's??????

We set up smoke and hope and ran it for a hour or so(there goes a couple bricks) I was able to post a 1.9Xsec run once with lots in the 2.1-2.3. Running a similar set up as yours but with the cmore upright.

I think SC would really grow in popular if we could find a way for more people to get out and try it. I admit that before I tried it I thought it looked lame but it's SOOO much fun to actually participate. If you have a couple of guys that are competive it can be very addicting. We are just setting it up a gravel pit and also just using 1/4" mild steel plates so were limited to rimfire rifle also. I really want to shoot with pistol thou.
