These hand loads were made for this rifle. Only 8mm the guy had.
I will of course open the gas tube fully and adjust it accordingly.

I hate to be a "wet blanket" but the bayonet is for a German Mauser (most likely a Kar 98k) and not for the FN Model 49.

Only those of us who knows what the correct one looks like. I liken it to putting Marilyn Monroe into a potato sack, it works but it works a lot better if she is in a swim suit.

I could make additional comments along these lines but if you are satisfied then that is all that counts. Enjoy! But I will make one more suggestion. Inspect your rifle to see if it has a two piece firing pin. If it does not I suggest you invest in the parts. But you most likely knew about that.
That depends a lot in what caliber it is and the condition of the rifle. These 8mm versions are the least desirable of the lot from a price standpoint.

That Portuguese surplus 8mm is fantastic stuff. I have only shot 80rds of it, but it was right to POI and it was non-corrosive (be careful to check the year of manufacture, as some is corrosive)!
Caliber and country makes a difference.
Some rough values
7mm Venezuelan FN-49 700-1200$
30-06 Belgium, Luxemburg, or Columbian FN-49 900-1500$
8mm Egyptian 600-1000$
7.62 Nato Argentinean FN-49 900-1500$
7.65 Argentinean FN-49 if you have one of these you win the FN-49 Jackpot and could likely ask quite a fair bit as there are next to none left in existence.
Usually the price is somewhere in the middle for the rough price range.
FWIW, the last two 8mm guns to sell on the EE were advertised for $550 and $600 respectively within the last 2 weeks. For all we know they may have sold for something less than that. Both came with goodies and looked to be in nice shape. $600-1000 is on the high end for sure. I would personally never pay that.
