To Brake a bolt action rifle or not too?!?!?

the entire 26??? shizen.....was the headache from the .416 or the withkee??

The headache was from the whisky, but the sore shoulder was from the Rigby...:)
Regarding the braked .308 thing, I'm just curious if you had a Limbsaver or other thick soft recoil pad installed prior to the muzzle brake? You might be surprised how much of a difference a good soft recoil pad can make! Cheers... :)

This past weekend, we had a long range clinic. Just about all the rifles had brakes. Simply put, there was no problem. No one complained. We shot both under a cover and in the open. Total non-issue. A brake on a precision rifle sure enhances its shootability. See splash, sometimes see swirl.

I did. I had a limbsaver hard mounted (for recoil) and a slip on pachmayr one that was to add to the LOP for my ape arms......now my self esteem is even lower since I realized I basically have a giant gummy bear between my shoulder and the butt......
