I'm wondering what the hunting implications of the huge burn in Alberta once the land has greened up in the next few years ...it should result in a lot of fresh browse and maybe grass....deer and moose should benefit once the land has recovered..what looks like devastation is part of the natural cycle that has existed for millennia

ps ....just wondering if those NDP idiots who said Fort McMurray burning was 'karma' will pay at the polls at the next election...

Yeah, and did you see Notley slashed the fire fighting budget by 80% and accused the opposition leader Brian Jean who lives in Fort McMurray of 'fear mongering' when he objected to cutting the fire fighting budget ?

The politician wankers won't pay even 1 one millionth of what each and every FMer has paid.

I just hope these politicians comments about the fires and the damage, burned homes and lost jobs won't be buried and forgotten in the next election...and I wonder what the people who voted for them think NOW?

But back to my original question, the fires should result in increased browse and grasses for deer and moose...

the other upsides I can see with the fort mac fire are , the city planners can pretty much start with a blank slate to before rebuilding , so hopefully things can be done better .
think about all the new jobs created to rebuild ..... lots of guys looking for work now might have something to do .

I wonder if a class action lawsuit could be put into action if it could be proven that the cuts put firefighters at a disadvantage , which would have helped the fire get out of control faster and become larger and more destructive ......

Really

How narrow minded. Your worried and concerned about future huntin. REALLY! Not 80000 + people displaced? Kids who's world crashed in on their little world. People who lost everything, and your stupid ass is worried about filling your tag? Do any of you really get this? Tomorrow it could be you. When you, your wife your kids, don't know what to do, it's all gone, not tomorrow but one hour from now, maybe you'll get it. I truly can't believe what a insensitive bunch of ass clowns I've been posting with for three or four years. What goes around comes around! Go ahead mouth off!

I didn't read it as "man, im pissed I can't hunt this fall". I took it more as "well, at least there's a small positive from this"....

Am I wrong.

I've pretty much kept my mouth shut about all this as I have better then most and other property that is housing my family. I've now be evacuated once in 2011 and again in now in 2016 due to wild fires. I didn't see anything in the op's post offensive, I read no concern about filling his tag. My heart goes out to all the people that lost everything but stuff can be replaced, houses can be rebuilt, I know I've been through it once and now a second. im proud to be an Albertan in times like these our true colours do show in the kindness and unselfishness out there from all the people giving. Besides the #######s on the drive south of ft Mac the first day of evacuation cutting off people, across ditches, driving in oncoming traffic and throwing lit buts out the windows, I say REALLY to those ass clowns. Myself being a avid hunter and fisherman I'm also concerned with the ecosystem but the Mother Earth was here long before us and will be long after we're gone. Everything has a cycle and with the end of life new life comes when it comes to Forest and fires. There will be lots of fresh growth in the years to come.

You have thoughtfully told the truth of the matter as you said recovery of the ecosysystem. Thankfully no human life's,that we know about, were lost in this fire. I doubt the young new born fawns, calfs etc. were as lucky. It's truly absurd that that anyone who is a hunter and conservationist would post this subject. As a human being I can express my heart felt lose for these people. As a farmer, conservationist and hunter it breaks my heart to know what these majestic animals have suffered. Instead of worrying about hunting opportunities we should be concerned about their future not hunting the stock left in the area.
I guess the original poster and I can agree to disagree. This area will by all past studies boom with wild life if given the chance to recover, I say lock it down for three years and let it recover.

Over 80% of the buildings are still standing. Some of the press (CBC for example) has done a great job of taking what is a terrible tragedy and making it out to be a near apocalypse.

I believe you miss took the OP's post grumpyold.. just like live4therut stated, there was no mention about actually hunting and filling tags. Just a general question as to how people think it may affect wildlife. .. probably not the best timing though....
I' m a little raw right now. A week ago a fire broke out 35 miles south east. Two days ago a fire broke out 15 miles east, right while Fort Mac turned into hell. Local friends waited with hearts in their throats to hear from family. My focus and mind set is really limited right now. I can't see why topics of this sort matter right now, and how really meaningless they all, and I guess maybe should be posted when nerves are not frayed. I'm an #######, at least that what my wife says, but I'm normally not a #### head, I guess my priorities may not match others and I'll admit any post that looks insensitive rubs my fur the wrong direction.
