So i fed my scorpion .45 some czech ammo, had a case fail, destroyed extractor and hairline cracked the slide. Sig (MD Charleton) refuses to touch it even though under warranty, so now im left with a 1500$ parts gun. Anyone know where i can find a cheap second scorpion, or have any brainy ideas on how to proceed from here?

Buy a bare slide, buy a normal extractor, have your top end parts fitted, slide fit to frame, then refinished, all this by a qualified smith, probably cost around 600$ all inluded, that is if you want to keep the gun and shoot it as it will kill resale value

MD Charleton said the same for me when I told them my scorpion carry 1911 ejector snapped off. I'd be tempted to call sig in the states to see what they say. Maybe they would be concerned of poor representation of their brand. Maybe not. In the end because it wasn't worth a fight I had it sent to a smith to replace on my dime.

The gun damage was a result of defective ammo, so the importer/distributor of the ammo is the first port of call, not the firearm.

Why would a manufacturer warranty a gun that was damaged by faulty ammo, whether it be factory ammo or reloads. The OP needs to contact the importer of said ammo and the manufacturer, but being Czech ammo I don't know if he'll get very far. I have heard of American ammo manufacturers covering the cost of repair/replacement of guns damaged by their ammo before, ie; Federal and Winchester, but an offshore manufacturer...well good luck with that.

Glad to read this, sorry it had to happen to you.
I'll be using strictly handloads in my sig, something happens it's on me, may as well save a few bucks and load what I want.

Interesting second post on the site!

Welcome to CGN.

I suggest you go back to MDC, and arrange to have a new slide and extractor fitted. On your dime. The ammunition caused the failure, not the pistol.

I went through this with a different make and model, ammunition failure, my responsibility, cost all in was $385. Better than having a pistol suitable only for instructing the restricted firearms training course.

Was the $385 for just the labour, or did that include a new slide and extractor? Did the barrel have to be replaced?

I know, but the good news is if the gun blows up, its my fault anyway. I can't afford to feed it factory built ammo, bought
a sig knowing it should be made well. Hoping that holds true.

It might be a good idea to shoot a box of factory through it and keep the box and brass. If a part breaks and is non-ammo related you have a lot #, and brass to back up your claim you only shoot factory.

definatly not the guns fault but was the gun bought from a certified source or was it a grey market gun brought in from the US? If it's a grey market gun don't expect MD to do anything for you

Using handloads voids your warranty... :p

Using ammunition voids any warranty according to S&W. And it sounds like Sig follows the same playbook.
I have the same faith in gun manufacturers "warranties" as I do in politician's "promises". Meaningless bunk to fool the naive.
