well it took a few weeks to arrive but picked up my RCBS chargemaster from Bass Pro yesterday, looked all over it was cheaper in the US but add the 75 US shipping and nothing in it, final price was $469.00 plus GST

I figured a good deal, given I had no shipping, no messing with possible duty and it qualifies for the 75US rebate

You can look into a Chargmaster insert made of brass instead of the drinking straw tip if you use stick powders like Varget.

p.m. me if you wish it works great

I have it on the bench beside the bullet seater. While it is buzzing away for 30 seconds I seat the bullet in the last charge it threw. We are both working at the same time. Much faster than twiddling thumbs, waiting for the next charge.

Everything said above is true. It's really one of those things that "just works".

The brass straw replacement is available on eBay....and worth it.

The programming hacks are easy and can be found on youtube.

ENJOY!!!

Ganderite, hear you previously had the Lyman, never got the hang of putting powder in all cases then doing the projectile seating, way better to seat while next charge is dispensing

Yup, do the programming and McD straw, timed right the next charge is ready after you done the seating and CBTO measuring.

Gonna look into the brass straw replacement. Anyone have a quick link???

Got mine several yrs ago at Brownell on sale for $270US when CAN was closer to par. Add exch+G/H/PST and $10fee. What really makes it worthwhile is Brownell is fully stocked with every bloody handloading gadget you can think of so order everything at once.

Hate the pwdr in all case increase chance for error. Esp. with wilson die/mini arbor can load anywhere, one at a time, zero chance for scribs?

Get yourself a dust cover while you're at it....

Like the idea of reduced overthrows on the reducing insert.
Does it help? Getting maybe 10% overthrown when the last trickle takes a dump.
Does is take longer due to reduced diameter?

The linked ebay auction say may not ship to Great White North. Anyone contact the fellow for shipping quotes?

Links on cover?

I dealt direct with him..

the brass reducer is pretty simple to produce, no time this week but I will make a few up if anyone is looking for one, pm me if interested, there is also a aluminum reducer to slow it down further

He'll ship to you, no problem.

Not slower.

Does help.

If Laurence can make it, that'd be ideal....

I have one that is the brass with the smaller insert inside (version 2.0??). It did slow down the throwing a bit (maybe 5 seconds per charge) but I think I had one overthrow in 70ish rounds.

I think the real solution is to buy two chargemasters!!

I tried the McD's straw. It works most time but still overthrows 1 to 2 per 10 (instead of 2 to 5 / 10 overthrows without) My solution is to use a RCBS Powder trickler with the extended tube. Now I set the Chargemaster to throw 0.3grn under and add the last bit with the trickler. It takes about 5 seconds extra time. I can get it down to the individual powder kernel on all stick-type powders. My consistency was measured to a 0.1 grn for 99 out of 100 throws (measured using 30.1grns Varget for 6mm BR). Not sure what happened with the 1 as it was 0.2 grn high. I'm thinking of going to higher resolution scale (0.01) to see what my true consistency is. Plenty good enough for me at the current time. How does that compare to the brass insert?

That sucks compared to what I'm seeing. I think my last batch of 50 i had 1, maybe 2, overthrows. Something ain't right with your setup. Did you do the hacks?? I wonder if something could be tweaked there???
