Is anyone else confused by all the new non restricted semi auto mag fed shotties? There is Derya, Akdal,Asena, and alpharms that I know of. Are the all basically the same value with a different name? Any standouts of the bunch or one that should be avoided? Thanks!

Thanks tootall didn't see that. I still haven't seen much info on if one stands above the rest or below the rest. I get that they are all "basically the same" ie turkish but still confused why derya is almost double the price of Asena for example.

Some are better quality and have different features than others.
I ended up with a mk1919 match... after much deliberation, glad I did, I don't have any of the issues that the cheaper ones have. And i think it's better looking.

The price difference has nothing to do with quality. Alpha arms and Asena are both direct imports from Turkish factory. The others simply go through at least 3 middle man before sold to customer. Lets say if shotgun like this costs around $300 US in Turkey after it shows up here as direct import then it is sold for mid $500 range. If 3 middle man had passed this shotgun along and each added customary 33% then the price raises to mid $800 to $1000 range. It is simple, best check Turkish dealer web stores for how much they sale them on domestic market then you will see that all this mag fed semis from Turkey sale for the same money there is very little difference

^^^^^ I don't belive this at all. Those who bought the more expensive ones have had nothing but good things to say about reliability and function, while there are threads on the modifications needed to get the cheaper ones running right. Plus lots of other issues with tight mags and such. From everything i have seen and read the price is very relative to functionality at the very least.

I ended up with the Akdal MKA 1919 Match. I was going to go with the Derya but I didn't want a red one, more expensive and it was having some function problems. I got my 1919 and so far it has been flawless.

I have both the Alpharms and the 1919 match. While I do really like the Alpharms, the 1919 does seem to be much better quality. The Alpharms feels great, is super fun and I have not had much trouble with it. I do not regret buying it especially cause Wolverine brought it in.

Still pumping my Derya, took my first turkey with it at 60 yards the other night. No issues exept it's not a bennelli and won't eat anything, needs to be 2 3/4 to work flawless, it's also not 2400$

Still having good luck with my Asena, but these are looking like a one time import, so not really available.

The big thing to watch for is mag compatibility. Most use the standard Turkish mags you can get anywhere, there are a couple that use non-standard mags, or modified mags, that are harder to come by and more expensive.

As for the price differences:

A lot of it has to do with how they were imported. Some are being bough factory direct by the importer, some are going through numerous middlemen, which drives up cost. All of them have had varying quality reviews, and a break in period needed to run light target loads reliably. The biggest pain point in general, though, has been the mags themselves. Most of the feed and cycling issues seem to be related to the mags, so it takes a while to get them tweaked to the point they feed properly (spring tension adjustment, adjusting the feed lips, etc.).

I would hazard that if you are unwilling to put a bit of time into break in and adjustments, then you might want to avoid them all. If you don't mind a bit of fiddling and break in, then you'll be happy with any of them.

I bought the MKA 1919 Match, could not be happier, it fires everything from target loads, to real hot reloads and I have never as so much as one feeding problem or failing to fire. It is as dependable as my 1100 Remington

I've had my MKA 1919 Match out a few times now, gotta say I'm impressed. I had one misfeed on the last round out of a new mag, and that's it. Ran that mag 5 more times, no issues. I ran it pretty wet which may have helped. Didn't get down into the lightest of the trap loads but i think I might give those a run next time.

Regarding the "reliability" of the various guns mentioned.
I came across this article recently. It is for a completely different gun, a pump action one. ( looks similar to a Dagger SAP6 actually)
The point the author makes is that far too many people have an issue with a gun, but the issue is actually ammo based.
In his example, he suspects that the spring pressure in the magazine is deforming the rounds. Change ammo, and the problem goes away.
Food for thought...

I've been a 1919 guy for a few years now. I wish the match had existed when I was buying.
