Grizzlies on the Wild Coast

Well put together video, very nice. Any of the regulars on the CGN hunting/hunting rifles forums featured as clients?

Liked the bit at the end where you( I assume it's you because it's a double rifle) give the bear a little poke to make sure he's dead, probably a good idea before you put down the rifle and get work with a knife : ) Gorgeous country out that way, grizzlies look a fair bit bigger than the inland ones we get around here. Makes me want to get out and go look for a black bear this weekend, perhaps tomorrow evening if things work out.

Would that be a 1910 H&H Royal barrel end extended by the cameraman we see in the final scene? Pretty cool if she gets some field use other than in Old Africa.

Really well put together video. What did that bear measure out to?

Thanks Hoyt!

BUM called it, I keep chickening out on the Royal, but do want to use it for a personal hunt. Conditions are just vicious in the bush here though, every strike from salt spray to slipping on wet rock to ridiculous rain. Can't win.

This said the Merkel keeps getting packed along with a lot of oil as I just plain hit what I point that thing at without thought. The length, and everything except its weather resistance, are perfect for the job too.

Dogleg is the fella at the end with a hundred and something pounds of skin and skull on his back.

Too bad you took the shot from the back....... A missed opportunity to see his trademark ear to ear grin..... I take it that, outside of goat country, waders are the apparel of choice?

One guy looks like George Bush lol... awesome video thanks for posting it

He's a good ole American boy who likes guns, hunting, and was CEO of a large company many of us would know of. Likes Scotch too, I tried to hide the $100 bottle to stretch it out to no avail, gone in an hour and change after the kill and I can't blame the guy. Very down to earth and competent fellow that's hard not to like.

Grizzly meat at preset is optional to keep in BC, the parasite load is rather extreme. This one was kept and is being used (well cooked) by one of my guides as dog food. Removing the big males mean more cubs survive to adulthood, so it serves a purpose in wildlife management the government is keen to see done. Anything left behind is eaten by other Grizzlies by the next day, and eagles clean up the bones, it doesn't sit.
