Trying to downgrade or upgrade ( depending how you see it) to a single shot shotgun in 16 or 20 gauge and just kicking the tires to see what is available. I have checked via internet, etc. and lots available south of us, however, wondering if anyone is manufacturing such a firearm that might be available in Canada.

Boito single shots in 12, 20 and 410. Wood stock only.
Hatsan Optima Single Barrel in 12, 20 and 410. Wood, black synthetic, camo synthetic stock.
Should be available at most retailers.

I had a couple on my table at the gun show and they both came home with me.
A bolt with detach mag and an old Winchester 37.
No luv of them in this area.

Landsborough auctions in Paris and Paul Switzer auctions in Bancroft. Every auction has a ton of single shot shotguns and 22's. Condition will range from beat to hell to mint, prices will depend on who is there/online that day. I think both have auctions coming up in the next month or two.

Thanks to all - lots to consider. If you see me on the EE WTB section, I will have decided to make the jump. Of course, something else will have to go. OH! the joy of it all!

Why would you get rid of another gun to spend a hundred bucks or two? If your locker isn't big enough slap a trigger lock on it and hang it on the wall.

Again, great advice and some of my own thoughts - just starting to like things real simple and hammer guns fit that bill. Being left handed, those cross bolt safeties that you righties love give me a pain. I have been fortunate to obtain a shotgun with thumb safety on the tang but still like the hammer, the model 94, and, all things old, like me. Twelve gauges knock me around too much now but a 16 or 20 would handle any of my bird and rabbit shooting needs and I do not hunt ducks - just in the thinking mode right now. Thanks, everyone.

If you want a hammer gun, Cooey 84 or an H&R Pardner are two that come to mind...... Neither are made any more however.....
