Thanks for the advise. Will a regular dovetail ring work on these T3s?
Thanks for the advise. Will a regular dovetail ring work on these T3s?
No. "Regular dovetail" refers to 3/8" width and I believe 45 degree edge angle. Tikka dovetail is 17mm wide (again, I believe) 60 degree edge angle.
Battue has great open sight system, but I wanted a scope for longer shots. I did a $#itload of research and eventually ordered a Ma-Si mount. I have them now on all my Tikkas, and there are others (even at this site) who also use them.
Not cheap, but you get what you pay for; If I learned anything along the way, it is "don't waste money on cheap mounts."
Search for my short video on youtwoob "Tikka T3 Battue and MaSi scope mount" to get an idea how they work.
My thought exactly. I really like your video but where can I get the MaSi mount ?
Directly from them; I believe it's a no-no to post a link to the website, but if you Google:
masina-tuote.com/en/verkkokauppa/rifle-accessories-en/tikka-t3-quick-detach-scope-mount/
that should take you pretty close... .
For what it's worth: It's a great mount. I've tested the return to zero with my 308 Win T3 Battue, and 222 Rem T3 Varmint, and it's always bang-on (pardon the pun.)
While at it, the design allows the rings to be mounted in four different positions, to accommodate different eye reliefs and different tube lengths.
Also, the rings can rotate until you tighten them towards the end of scope installation; This means that the scope tube aligns the rings perfectly - simple and functional.
Whatever you do, DON'T buy optilocks. Junk. Very expensive junk.
I'm sort of keeping my eyes open for an even smaller ocular than the 32mm I'm using now, because the scope is mounted a little bit farther back than I like, and I can't move it forward due to the ramp.
The VX-3 1.75-6 is actually an oddly long scope. Very strange.
With all respect to the gentlemen who are buying those European mounts, the Warne QD for Tikka mounts are simply great, and vastly less money. In stock at Grouse River.
I'd look at a VX-2 2-7, or a redfield revolution 2-7. A new scope AND warne rings will cost less than the mounts described above alone![]()
Yeah, the Warne high rings are interesting. Do you know if they are high enough to mount my vx1 40mm and clear the battue ramp)
