Optic suggestions for Anschutz 64 MPR

Optimal without going over the top seems contradictory. In any case, to take full advantage of your MPR you should get as much magnification as you can. Some shooters will say that a 2-7 or 3-9 is all the scope they ever use; and no doubt they are right -- that's all they use. Low magnification scopes won't let you take fuller advantage of the MPR's accuracy.

A 20X or 24X scope should be the minimum on your list if you want to try to shoot your rounds into the same hole at 50 yards, not to mention longer distances. Better still if you can find a 24X or 36X fixed power scope (you won't be using it on lower power if its a variable) as these have fewer moving parts and tend to be lighter. A Sightron SII 36X can be had new for under $700 (plus taxes, shipping) or you can keep an eye open on the EE, where just yesterday a Weaver 36T sold for much less.
 
I use a sightron fixed 36 td, a sightron 6 -24×42 big sky and a vortex pst 6-24×50 1moa ebr. I also have a vortex HST 6-24×50.I do like the vortex hash mark reticle more than the fine dot. My Annie match 64 currently wears the fixed 36 brd. My new MPR is getting the HST. My next scope will be the sightron 10-50×56 lrmoa. No such thing as too much scope. Buy once cry once.
 
Yea, I was thinking fixed...not many gopher fields here in Eastern Ontario so most if not all of my shooting will be target at fixed distances, lack of depth of field isn't a problem under those conditions.
Just missed one on the EE, but will continue to watch...
