Considering buying a slightly used Kimber 8400 Advanced Tactical in .308.

Does anybody have opinions on this rifle?

Also, it doesn't have a detachable mag - which I would prefer. Does anybody have knowledge up upgrading this rifle to having a detachable mag? Is it a quick swap, or is much more work involved, esp. considering bedding issue?

Probably won't see too many reviews as the price they sell for new is close to what a guy can get a custom built for or go with something well proven like a TRG. That said, I'm sure they're a fine rifle capable of decent accuracy.
If it's the model I'm thinking of that has the Mcmillan A5 stock and hinged floor plate then you should be able to upgrade to a detachable mag setup that uses AICS mags but it would probably be best to have a gunsmith perform the work unless you're handy with such things. Pretty sure CDI precision makes a bottom metal for the Kimber.

I have a FN SPR A5M XP and considering to replace it with Kimber 8400 AT. Which one is a better rifle between the two?

I would say the FN is a better rifle overall and definitely more proven. I think the FN's "model 70" action is better/ stiffer/ stronger than the Kimber design. More options for aftermarket stuff for the FN.

I have a basic 8400 tactical with the non adjuatable mcmillan A5. Its had a cdi bottom metal added.... it's an easy job for a capable gunsmith, but probably not one you should try yourself as the stock will need some work.

As for the gun it's self, I haven't shot it much but it does show good accuracy potential. I'd take it over a semi-custom rem 700 for sure.
