Doing my black badge tomorrow

So what does the black badge course do?
What is it?
What does it qualify you to do vice someone who doesn't have a "black badge"?
I'm not being cynical, I keep hearing a lot about it but I have absolutely no idea what it is or why it is sought out.
Someone educate me please.

Not only qualifies you.

teaches you better and safe gun handling, and and shooting techniques. I highly eecommend it even if you don't plan on shooting in competitions.

I have lots of questions for the IPSC veterans.

Is this course OK for a beginner to take?
I just got into hand guns in the last 6 months and haven't really had any kind of training other than figuring things out on my own at the range. Does this course teach shooting technique or is it mostly focused on IPSC rules and holster safety?
I'm interested revolver division at least until my Shadow 2 shows up. Do many guys go into training with a wheel gun and does revolver division have any of the same barrel length restrictions you find in other divisions? I know you can't use compensators but the rules are pretty convoluted for a new guy.

Well that's good that your knees fared out ..... I swear, I went home and could hear the rust I had broken up my knee For the rest of the evening!
That's great that you will be able to make it up. I will for sure make the match..... Yes loading must be done and finalizing some gear!
But I'm really hoping to get to some other matches in Ontario and area pending how work and timing goes.
I should ask you are you aware of some fun matches coming up in your area at all?

Stittsville runs matches now with the ipsc club there. Check the ipsc website for dates.

The BB assumes you already have basic marksmanship skills. If you can hit a regular piece of paper with every shot you take at 20 yards with no time limit, you have the basic skills. If you can't - you're not ready.

More the latter than the former.

Revolvers are out there, but a very, very small minority. You can take the BB with any Revolver. You'll find out during the course what division yours fits (Possibly Open, Revolver or Production) and if you want to continue with it or get something else for competition.

It's not "convoluted" after the course.
