The GF wants a rifle... Yeah!

Only on CGN could a simple ask and response (to the inquiry of a semi-auto) induce so much butt hurt to get a thread near the point of lockout.

Let the butthurt continue.

Non-restricted Modern Hunter.

Out of his price range, but I shot a MH in .308 and recoil was almost non existent. His GF wouldn't mind the recoil of that I bet. It's no featherweight rifle! :)

My opinion if you don't re load there is no point staying with .308 , get something that is comfortable. .223 is something you can shoot for days and not feel it.

Oh yeah, as you don't load I would look at a .223 or .243 (my choice) for your better half. I'm a Savage fan boy so would recommend one of their offerings. If she wasn't dead set on a heavy barrel I would look at a "Lady Hunter" in either caliber. I got one for a friends wife and she just loves it.

I would use a 223 heavy barrel as suggested previously. Good glass would be a crucial thing to spot those clays or small targets at 500 on a good day. I would also add a 20 moa rail as part of the build to allow for the best use of your scope to stretch out. I prefer savage and had a tack driver 243 before going to 308 10TR savage. Good luck and I hope you find a suitable gun.

I too suggest a 223 with atleast a 9twist barrel on her.

Super easy to shoot and LOTS of ammo to buy for it if you dont plan on reloading.

Buy the little Lady a T3 Tikka in 223, put a 4-14 Leupold in Talley mounts on top and she is off to the races.
The 8" barrel twist will stabilize anything you buy and they are superbly accurate.

Good choice if you can get the Tikka for a good price. It seems they are on sale somewhere according to another thread.
