Some of us work for a living, and as a result the season will end before I can return.
I actually don't know what size the barrel is. Probably 30 gallon. It is about 3 feet off the ground on the back side, and closer to four on the front. Yet the bear always goes at it from the high side. Why? because there's a log back behind the barrel and he's too damned fat to fit there comfortably.
I was a tad concerned about the one pic, he's tall enough to put a fair weight on the barrel if he leaned on it enough.
We have three such setups going.
This one drew the biggest bear, but the bugger never appears when we are there. (I blame Jay's stinky feet)

Jays camera is on one of the others, and the bear tore it off the tree, so we got nice pics of trees waving. The other one has pics of smaller bears.
All three had the plywood end supports torn off the barrels. In future those supports will go inside the barrel where they are not so easy for claws to get.
My camera on that barrel had dead batteries, so I got no more pics.
