I finally did what I have always wanted to do when I started casting for my 45-70.
I got a bear.
It was a complete pass through. Went in before the front leg and came out before the hind leg. He only went 20 yards.

360 grain bullet over 45 grains of IMR4198 chronographed at 2050 fps

Love that Marlin SBL

Thanks guys
The bullet is cast from wheel weights and the brown colour is made from red, blue and yellow powder coat mixed together.
I coat them with different colors.

Impossible! As the internet hunting experts will state, bear and other medium to large NA game can only be taken with extremely large calibre arms, coupled with high-end imported optics firing monolitic, heavy projectiles.

Tongue in cheek, of course. Well done sir. :)

Gotta say ''Well Done too !!!! ''
Thanks for the write up and pictures of said hunt.
You said the bear went 20 yrds, but how far was the bear from you ?
Thanks Again,
Rob

The bear was about 30 yards from me. I had hoped to film it on my GoPro but he came in from a different direction and went straight to the camera sniffing and licking it. I had to take him before he ate it. LOL

Is that the ranch dog 350gr mold? Nice work! I am shooting similar bullet at similar speed hope to connect with a bear Friday.

Yes it is a Ranchdog 360 grain maufactured by NOE. Good luck on your hunt.

Two out of three. He didn't use optics. ;)
