Recently my Winchester 101 has intermittently stopped firing the lower barrel. I fire the lower barrel first. I hear a click when you pull the trigger and when look at the shell the primer does not dent? Does it need a cleaning or new firing pins? Should I take it to a gunsmith? I live in Edmonton. Any recommendations for a smith in Alberta. I like the and shoot it pretty well. Thanks Guys.

Get a detailed parts diagram before tearing it apart, then take it apart and clean it really well (if you are comfortable doing so). If not take it to a smith.

Sounds like may be a broken lower firing pin .check with western gun parts they may have the firing pins .

Pulling the stock will answer you questions, it will allow you to check the pins, if they are fine, then proceed with a good cleaning and lubrication.

I second this but start by looking at the face of the firing pin I've had a few of my 101s get pitted badly over time resulting in light strikes, no wit Ness mark on the primmed does sound lIke a broken pin though. If you don't see anything there pull the buttstock as mentioned which will give you a good visual of the internals, if uncomfortable taking apart see a smith but its not overly hard with a little attention and time. Best of luck and keep us posted.
