Hunting with Black Rifles

I assume the above was directed at me.
I am guilty. Why stir the pot of conflict? I hunt in a group, none of which use a black rifle so it would be disruptive to them and unfair if there was a LE encounter just so I could prove a point. I make my points in other ways.
There is also a practical reason in my case. .223 is too light for what we go for and my black .308s weigh a ton to lug around the BC bush. So there is no reason for me to use my black guns.

curious, whats you black 308? xcr?

They are heavy. I looked at them. 9-10lbs before glass???

for the xcr?
really?

thats the same as a m1a

im from quebec so my only hunting firearm is my 30-30, not really good for bc though, i might need to invest in a bigger firearm soon, but I do love the furries and cant bring myself to take one down.

Now wild boar, yah, but that's dangerous hunting...

It was, you assume correctly. You're opinion is perfectly valid, provided that you NEVER whine or complain about how dumb and restrictive Canada's gun laws are whilst doing nothing about it. Burying your head in the sand is not helping anyone.

I can't use .223 to hunt here, so that's a non-issue, but I sure can use .260/6.5.

I look at it that I'm paying A LOT of money for my MH, and I bought it to use it, not for it to hide in my safe in fear of an uneducated para-LEO accusing me of wrong doing that I'm not doing.

We're on the same side Gunny! I write letters, sign petitions, support CPC candidates, member of CSSA, RO at black rifle matches and support all forms of shooting.
Like I said, I make my point in other ways!
And all the best with the MH!

AND I would cheer on anyone who wants to hunt with any black rifle!

Make sure you post pics of your black rifle hunting trips in the Hunting and Sporting Arms forum. :)

I've never had any problem but don't see many cops in the bush anyeay, and mostly use a bolt action for hunting. Gonna load up some TTSX .223 rounds for my Tsvor for bear and deer though.

I agree. It just doesn't make any sense to me for us all to fight for our rights, and then hide for fear of using our rights.

Yup! One of them! Set up as a DMR rifle with scope and bipod.
Weighs close to 15Lbs full load. Try lugging that around for a few hours.

Only reason I would hunt with something remotely that heavy would be a 50bmg for the performance. No way I would lug around a 308 in that weight class. My 338 Lapua is not even that heavy and I am looking at a lighter option if it sells

I agree. That's why it's not my hunting rig! Also, a .50BMG would be closer to 25-30 LBs full load with brake, optics and bipod.
I just weighed the gun. 12.6lbs without mag so pretty close to 14lbs loaded.

Any of you see this video I filmed of my buddy's XCR being confiscated for using LAR mags a few years ago?

https://youtu.be/RT9yGCdr7o8

I had my T97 there using the same mags... but when asked by CO Gravel if I was using 10 rounders... oddly my answer was "no" after seeing what happened when you said "yes". Jared eventually got his XCR back with an apology of sorts... but it was still a sh*t show

My desert tech is 20lbs with the mag, but I have specific places I hunt with it

So, question, is the MH "black" given that it is NR??

Absolutely.

And I am going to shoot a deer with my Tavor some day, and I plan to use 64 grain Winchester PowerPoints.

If a Conservation or Police Officer takes issue with my NR Tavor, they won't be leaving with my firearm. They will get on the radio & computer & figure out THEY are in the wrong.

Cheers
Jay

I hunt with my Ruger M77 All Weather (.270Win) synthetic a couple of York Regional cops thought highly suspicious. They called it a "black rifle",too. They wanted to see my "registration papers",so,I showed them my PAL and hunting license and placed my rifle on the hood of their cruiser.. By this time,my buddies have wide grins on their faces. Cop#1 says "No,no,I want to see your restricted license and ATT and then you can explain to me why you're carrying it and where you think you're going with it." OK,by now the guys are giggling and breaking out into laughter. This is really PO'ing Cop #1 while cop#2 is in the cruiser with the computer screen. She yells out the door "Give it back to him ,Greg,it's legal and not restricted." He didn't say a word, not even an apology, turned beet red and stomped off with uproarious laughter stinging his ears. He looked like a complete idiot in front of his female partner. I hope we never run into the idiot again. He'll likely try to hang a murder on me,or something. Gawd, some people are dumb.
