The GF wants a rifle... Yeah!

Did you get the Ruger American predator or the Ruger M77 predator?

We handled the American Predator. This experience is a testament to how important it is to handle a firearm, cycle the action and TRY to work with someone that is an enthusiast AND a salesman. One point for canadian tire. Wholesale was very little help and I corrected him on a few things and was getting a little frustrated until a shooter working there stepped in.

If you like the American, you would love the M77..... Not too much more money but much higher quality and well within your price range...... They are my personal rifle of choice......

Some people have to stick their finger in the wall outlet before believing it's a bad idea.......

I hope that is not a shot at me for doing my due diligence and wanting to check it out for myself... Especially in a hobby thick with opinion and personal taste. It's not like I didn't believe the grenade would go off when someone said don't pull the pin. I feel I am being smart, listening to people and taking the time to verify what I hear and read then am willing to change my ideas when I have a negative experience. I like this forum for collective knowledge but also take it for what it is worth and like to verify "facts" as much as needed. Please do not insinuate I am an idiot for not listening to one posters opinion. I acknowledged his position and now share it, reevaluated and found a new direction. Now I am researching.

They seem to be a little harder to find... I am going to check a LGS that has consignments and a good selection this week.

Not intended that way...... Or directed at you.... There are plenty out there that will tell you Rugers are crap...... I disagree..... And it's based on my experience....

But also keep in mind that in today's online age, too many jump in balls deep without actually handling the rifle...... I can't speak for Hoytcanon, but speaking to myself, I was under the impression you had already order the rifle......

Ah, gotcha. My hackles are down ;). Sorry about the push back. No purchase has been made yet.

Prophet River has one in stock.... It's in .22-250 ....... VERY flat shooing cartridge with low recoil...... $1100.... And these rifles have integral scope bases and come with a real good set of rings you would pay a good chunk of change for.....

Not sure where you are located......

Just found a m77 mkII with laminate stock and bull barrel on the EE. Trying to price to see if it is reasonable...

What are they asking and what caliber.... I own 8....... Have a pretty good idea what they are worth..... Lol..... And if Hoytcanon sees this he has owned more than I care to count...... He will help as well.....

That's an $1100 plus tax and shipping rifle and looks damn near mint...... I would jump on that in your shoes........ Rifle, rings and bases all in at $875..... You will get your money back on that if you don't like it all day every day.......

Any company that would offer the following two firearms would not get one shred of my business!

I offer these pics to support my opinion.

HA... that is sooooo awesome SuperCub.

.... but you forgot the pistol grip 12 gauge with the 50 cal. muzzle brake !! Some real winners there.

IMO, that rifle should sell for $800 shipped... used pricing has still not caught up to the recent 2016 price hikes... however some sellers are doing their best to encourage a spike in the used market pricing... and for some of the more rare versions, that is legitimate. That is a nice rifle though and you would absolutely not be disappointed. The difference between that rifle and the other guns you have been talking about is "light years." I owned and shot that exact version and cartridge as well as another in .22/250... it is an excellent "longer" range factory rig.

On the fence on this one...... On the one hand, you are correct in your evaluation and it has been bumped a couple of times.......

On the other hand, it's the caliber the OP wants, it's in great shape and is right here right now...... $875 is about what a crappy American costs these days, taxed and shipped......

I would negotiate with the seller and try for some wiggle room..... The fact that it has been bumped as it has means it isn't a hot sale..... But I woukd hate to lose a rifle over the cost of a KFC dinner for 4......
