After a range session with my S&W M19 snubby, I used a 'wet one' hand towel to clean my hands. Then I thought I'd see how it would do wiping off the powder residue from the gun. It worked like a hot dam, wiping the crud away before it had time to harden, requiring solvent to remove.

Not happy with that, I cut it into squares and used it to swab the barrel and chambers. Another winner!

Can't wait to see how it works on BP crud after a session with cap & ball guns.

Who the hell carries wet ones anyway?

Some one that has kids!

Both of my two have left the nest now. I keep them on hand to wipe my hands down after a Steel shoot. 231 is pretty dirty.

Never occurred to me to wipe my gun down with them!

My M19m snubby is nickle plated, so the powder residue was easily seen and wiped off. It won't be so obvious on a blued gun, but it should work equally as well as it did on nickle.
I first tried the trick on my SS M66 after shooting the old, smoky, dirty Unique. My hands were grubby after 100 rds, picking up the brass, etc., and I thought I'd give the gun a wipe as well. The particular brand is the Kirkland product from Costco.

My SAR group advised us to carry 'wet ones' in our ready packs. We found all kinds of uses for them, from wiping our butts to soothing bug bites as they have aloe in them. Good for a quick foot wash before changing out sweaty socks for dry.

interesting.
i know my dads 460S&W Mag has that comp on it and that thing is a bear to clean once that powder hardens up.
ill try some wet ones next time we have it out, may save me a hour of scrubbing later that night!
