Garrison Petawawa PR Match 1- 11/12 June 2016 - Debrief here!!

Really getting stoked for PR and spending quality time with Barney and Morgan.
However: I know Danny's is the big spot prime rib -- but for those not in the know it is Ribfest weekend in Petawawa.

Yummmmmm...... Ribs! And pulled pork.

No matter how poorly I shoot the ribs should make everything right as rain.

Looking forward to seeing everyone

Okay, folks time to update and tweak our protocols/procedures. With the required Sentry by Range Control we need to be a bit more mindful about bringing $10 to Morgan to help pay for the Sentry that's required by Range Control. They don't work out of the goodness of their heart! In the past, we used a hat to collect some money but unfortunately some people have not been mindful of the required presence of a sentry at the range.

So I've started a $10 fee payable to Morgan to encourage our Sentries to lend us a hand on the shoot(s) that we host up in Garrison Petawawa.....

Cheers,

Barney

That's the best way to go about it Barney.
I don't call sitting in a 4'x6' box in 100F heat entertainment.

No worries John ...

Well I was informed by range control that we have lost Bravo range for Sunday June 12 and no other rifle ranges are available that day to us.
We still are good to go for Saturday June 11 on Bravo range
And we have access to Echo range Sunday June 12 ( 100 meter pistol/rifle/shotgun range ) if anyone wants to stick around and shoot.
Barney and I were discussing it last night and we can set up the clubs shooting barricades /platforms and we have some gongs as well as a moving target.
If anyone was at the Sharpshooter comp we held here last year we did a stage where you kept the same point of aim but used your scope turrets to adjust onto each target.
Similar to doing a box test.
We may run something like that as well . I will bring out the clubs Labradar as well if anyone wants to check the ammo velocity of their firearm.
If anyone wants to bring up a pistol/AR or shotgun feel free and let me know so I can send a letter of invitation for the required ATT.
Just send an email to me at the clubs email address at cfbpgc@gmail.com

Morgan sorry to hear we lost Echo on Sunday but your proposed plan sounds like a great way to fill the time. I was going to just bring the AR but based on your post it would be great to bring out the the 308 bolt, M1 and shotgun for some 100 yard fun on movers and barricades.

Yes, because we lost the Bravo Range for Sunday....

I am moving the MATCH to the Saturday.... and then we can "practice" at Echo on Sunday!!

Questions? We have to work with what we've been given. Refunds can / will be arranged for those of you who cannot shoot on this weekend or on the Sunday.

Cheers,

Barney

Morgan, I'm game for that setup as well, might bring my AR as well.

And Barney, maybe we could run the first day a bit differently. Zero our rifles at 100m and then run the rest of the match with only our ballistic calculator and the spotter. This would mean modifying the match slightly by adding 1 or two sightsters per stage

For all the people who were coming mainly for the Saturday 'practice/instruction' (4 people in my group.......I don't know how many others are in the same boat), can we at least keep part of Saturday open for that? Not that we don't want to shoot the match.........we'd just like to be able to have an idea what we're doing prior to it.

I am confused how myself as a newb to PR can shoot a match on Saturday?
As for refunds it's a moot point. Hotel reservation is paid and non-refundable.

I guess this is one of those times where you have to accept the things you can not change and all that jazz.

You will get a lot of instruction from the match day as well. Most of the morning on the first day is gear choice, if you took the CQB clinic you won't miss too much. I honestly believe the match day is where I learned the most.

I'm sure Barney will make the most out of the one match day and you'll all be happy with the way it turns out.

I'll stick with the plan to attend, consider it a primer for the July PR clinic. Plus be cool to radar some of my ammo.

Back in 2014, I was the Match Director for the ORA PR Program and we did shoot 5 matches/stages on the SINGLE day.

I am confident that we can add some sighters at each range to get people tuned to the range(s) and distances as we go along. It's the second day of shooting at Echo range that's going to be interesting with the props and "boat" exercise/platform.

Bring on the discussion! We have to work with what we've been given.... Old Buddhist saying...

Cheers,

Barney
