HELP! Weird issue with my G19

Long ago when I had the full capacity magazines...they were so easy to load.

Later, when converted to 10 rounds, with a follower travel limiting piece cemented into the mag body, loading 10 rounds was so easy, as the spring had room for 15 or 17 (depending on which Glock it was).
But the new factory magazines, with that white plastic block in them, mean you have to use the loading tool to force that 10th round in against very tight pressure. You literally have to force it and have to use the tool.

That wasn't in the original design. That was a legal compromise.

When you slam that full 10 round mag up in there, against that kind of pressure, you're probably not making the mag release very happy. I'd swap that mag release out for starters.

Also, those G17 mags you're using for mag changes...the bottom of the mag isn't in the frame as the G19 mag would be, right? I don't have them to look at now but would that be a bit less stable at the bottom?

CANTOM...the vengeful Norse God of reason! Makes too much sense.

I know lol! That was my point bru!

Second or third time taking it out It dawned on me.

Ps. You up the Sunshine Coast?
Hahaha! Live and learn!
Met a guy at the range with a 226. Kept saying his slide won't stay open on the last shot too. Blamed the gun. I told him his thumb was sitting on the slide stop. He moved it and the slide stayed open. But he said he was more comfortable with his thumb there so he went back to it and the slide kept closing!
Nah, in the FV! Love Sechelt though! Sharky's Fish and Chips! Awesome!

Hard to say without seeing the pistol but I would try the following in this order:
1. use only Glock OEM parts, nothing aftermarket until the bug is fixed
2. Shoot factory ammo and see if the issue persists
3. Replace the recoil spring assembly
4. Replace the extractor depressor/plunger spring
5. Replace the magazine catch and spring

There's a couple of other things I'd look at if the issue persists but try the above steps first.

I've been a Glock armorers for 15 plus years, which doesn't really say much as a raccoon could be trained as a Glock armorer.

I want to thank the great CGN community for having guys like piperdown. He came out to the range in the rain to diagnose my G19. Gave me very helpful tips to get the gun up and running.
Ended up talking guns for hours!
Thanks pd! We'll meet again soon!

Whoa! Don't install all at once and try it! Then you'll never know!

Try one part with 50 round intervals or more! Then you can pinpoint exactly what the issue was!

LOL!
Pd and I had this exact discussion. We agreed to carpet bomb the problem as it seems to be a combination issue rather than a single cause. He did recommend to switch out the Lone Wolf for the plastic factory guide rod and spring as the factory tension is stiffer and to go factory ammo, as the most likely culprit. The worst case scenario is I end up with spare parts, which I'll need sooner or later anyways!

Crazy question...

Is the holster new? Does it cover the magazine release?

Are we sure it isn't the holster?

Definitely not the holster. It's not the first round as the gun is pressed checked before holstering. It's not the second either so the mag did not come lose from the draw. The last time it happened, the gun was not holstered at all.

Hahaha! Love it! Carpet bomb is a perfect term!

Let us know how she goes man!
