Folks,

I recently bought a brand new CZ75 SP01 Shadowline. I had the chance to go a couple of time at the shooting range.

One thing I noticed is the strange sight configuration of this pistol. Let me explain it to you.

The tests were made at a distance of 10m.

If I correctly align both front and rear sight, the hits are always a couple of inch too low. (Picture "CZ_Shooting_Issue_10m_1.jpg")

But if I shoot with the front sight higher than the rear one, the hits are at the good place on the target. (Picture "CZ_Shooting_Issue_10m_2.jpg")

The rear sight is fixed and not adjustable.

Any thoughts ?

Thanks
Steven

Hmm sounds like a plan. So, if I want to shoot two guns at the same time , should I hold them barrel to barrel ? :)

Not sure about the barrel to barrel thing, but if you're firing two guns, I find it helps to dive forwards and twist through the air while firing. Your accuracy should increase drastically. You can see a great example of this in the movie Bad Boys II.

Awesome tips Tdizzle. I'm heading to the range shortly , with my new , to me , CZ Shadow. I'm going to try that out. So I take a short run , the dive and twist in mid air? what part of the twist do you recommend , to commence shooting?

I was also thinking ,after I come out of the dive/twist that I could do a barrel roll and pop of a few off.

Should be quite entertaining at the range....

Oh you can start shooting before your feet leave the ground. Just make sure you empty your mag mid-twist, reload another mag, and commence firing again before you land. That's how you know you're a true pro. I'm sure guys do it at IPSC all the time.

The barrel roll works nicely. Also, you toss a grenade or two for good measure.

You can change your expectations or change your sights.

Dawson precision has a utility on their website to help you determine what sight height combination will give you the expected results.

Many people have different preferences for POA and POI.

Fixed sights are set up for one distance. 25 m for the CZ shadow. Any other distance will require holdover or under. And this also probably depends on bullit weight.

You can get an adjustable rear sight from Brownells and that would allow you to adjust for different distances. For target shooting.

That's the way I see it anyway.

I believe the CZ are sighted in at 25 m so that may be your issue

This is the correct answer. All CZs are the same with fixed sights.
You can do one of two things, file the back sight down then re-blue, or get an adjustable set. I have LPA adjustables, but be aware adjustable sights are something that can break.
When Manny Bragg was up doing training here this past summer, he said he bought 10 or 20 from the factory for the range he was at, and when he got them all the back sights were filed down.. freaking out, he called the sales person to complain and it was explained to him that they were doing him a favour. :)

You! You're good!

Just remember: clockwise for northern hemisphere, counter-clockwise for southern hemisphere. Failure to observe this will result in poor groups.

You're welcome.

I had my new to me CZ shadow, out for the first time today.
Using the sight picture #2 from post # 2 , here's how I did.
Ammo was S&B 115 g.
My arm was rested on the bench and I was shooting at a 25 yard distance.

Not to bad , considering I couldn't do this well with my M&P at 15 yards .

And the 8 inch gong at 50 yards was a piece of cake.

I'm not sure about factory sighting in at 25m

I've had the SP-01 Shadow and now the 75B Shadowline and I shoot a 3/4" bullseye at the 6'oclock postion with both front and rear flush at 10m......benched.

Each ammo shoots differently
Why arn't we analysing that?

Sights here vs there, your not shooting ammo that that sights were 'sighted' for. So change sights or change ammo.
