So I have put a few rounds down range and shot a ipsc match with my M&P 9mm. I'm thinking about upgrading the sights . I need to wear glass and found the factory sights lacking at range while shooting small plates for example . What are you guys using ?

I'm using the factory sights still, although I've blacked out the rear dots and painted my front lime green. Much better now, not that I had issues with the stock set up in the first place.

My Pro has a FO front sight. It's my go to gun for Steel Challenge. Works for me.

I wear corrective lenses as a rule, but don't use them to shoot. The plates appear fuzzy for the most part.

I put Dawson front and rear on my Pro. Really nice having a rear sight which is click adjustable for windage and elevation. On my M&P, I installed Williams; rear is click adjustable. Not as nice as the Dawson sights, though.

I replaced the foresight with HI-VIZ ones I bought from Al Flaherty's. It made it much easier for me to see in our indoor range. I didn't have much trouble swapping them out, though I did get a set of punches, since I figured I'd need them in the future. You just have to make sure you either Locktite the set screws or double check they're down tight. At least on my M&P22 it came off once, after several hundred rounds probably vibrated them loose. The M&P9 had to be drifted into place and it hasn't budged.

I have mostly Heinie Straight 8 sights. Their Slantpro Qwik Ledge is my preferred variant. I do recommend that you avoid sets with the 0.140 width rear. The last sights I bought are Ameriglo Pro i-Dot. With a wide-width rear, like 0.156 or 0.165, either brand will do just fine.

This is what I'd suggest: http://ameriglo.com/collections/smith-wesson/products/smith-wesson-m-p-tritium-i-dot-sets

At only US$99.99, Brownells can ship it to you without your requiring any import/export permits.

I use TruGlo (red front, green rear fiber optics) on my M&P and my Glocks, super easy to pick up and acquire targets with sun glasses on!

I've tried a few different sights, including trijicon night sights, but prefer the TruGlo by far (and they are almost half the price)!

Local shops have them, but I ordered my last set for $58usd from Brownells (they also have some Apex parts for a good price, which I highly suggest too).

Just shot my first IDPA round last night and found the factory M&P sights a bit lacking as well. Has anyone had any experience with the XS Express with the bead FO front sight? See one of the site sponsors SFRC has a set in stock.

I would recommend strongly against XS sights. You will give up a lot of precision without gaining speed.

Trijicon HDs have a nice, big dot up front that really draws your focus to the front sight, but the U-notch provides much better visual feedback than the shallow V-notch of the XS sights.

Ok, the XS sights actually only have a white vertical or tritium stripe on the rear sight from what I can see, not even a notch.

I bought some VTAC sights for my M&P. Tritium and fiber optic's. I really like how rugged the design is of them, unlike most fiber optic sights, these fiber optic tube are not left vulnerable and are well protected with only the one end of each tube being directly exposed to the elements.

I blacked out the white dots of the rear sight on my M&P, painted the front sight white with florescent orange in the front sight dot. Looks good in the garage, gonna try it next week shooting steels. If I like it, I may go to a set of aftermarket sights with fiber optic, tritium or both. Will let you guys know how it went late next week. The Truglo TFO sights and the Ameriglo CAD or i dot look interesting.

Another prop for Dawson Precision FO sights. Just put them on my HK P30L and loving it. The factory sights on the P30 are really nice, but I'm doing much better with the Dawsons.
