This statement renders your previous claim false as you claimed that my stock is not post war production , which it is by the way 100% lol
Just strip em and re shellac them. Done, just like the armory would. Not all of us want cosmoline soaked, shellac flaking guns to shoot for the sake of possible resale value.

I never claimed your stock was wartime production only that similar ones were made during ww2. Not that it would have mattered much as it still would not be correct for the rifle, unless it dated 1941-45. Is it? Out of curiosity, how can you tell with 100% certainty that it was made post war?

what if finger cut outs were added post war, but stock is actually wartime? as for pressed in escutcheons - they were used during war and it is known.

I'm not trolling you. During refurbishment process big cutouts behind rear barrel band could've been added to wartime stock that originally didn't have them or had small ones. So you can't really claim that this is 100% post-war stock.

For stocks with pressed escutcheons:
Izhevsk sniper stocks made 1944+ but they will have no cutout
Mednogorsk stocks but they will have a small circular cutout
Post-war with angular cutouts as in the OPs rifle
Yes, some stocks did receive some cutouts post-war. However, Mednogorsk stocks already had cutouts and Izhevsk stocks were sniper stocks only so unless you see a very obviously repair where the stock was cut for the mount...
Furthermore, post-war stocks will have some marking like a box with a like on the right side butt stock. Izhevsk sniper stocks will have the inspector's cartouche and CCCP roundel. Mednogorsk stocks will have a different inspection cartouche and the Tula Star. These markings can be almost completely sanded away.

And as far as i can tell my 1940 (Tula) SVT-40 is numbers matching except for the magazine
OP’s 91/30 stock has repair on the right side near sight, so there is chance that stock was sanded during repair/refurbishment process, got enlarged finger notches on top of smaller round ones and then slapped crossed square cartouche on the buttstock. Just like his SVT stock where star is still visible
anyways all I'm saying - you can't really use "100%" in this case
