Big Bore (.375 and up) Bolt Action Rifle ####

Thanks, several fellas have suggested checkering so now I'm wondering what it would cost as its tedious and time consuming, that is if you can find someone who does it..

This may be unrelated, but there are situations and species where checkering does not help ....... My turkey shotgun has no checkering and I like it that way....... I have shot those buggers at all different angles where movement is a luxury and the butt may not be in your shoulder... That rifle looks ready for business.....

Also, if your brother built it, I wouldn't change it one bit......... Jmop

Yes he did, and one thing I've noticed with checkering is if it's on a rifle with ' noticeable ' recoil it can be tough on the hands depending on how coarse the checkering pattern is..

You have my opinion...... Your brother did fine and envious work....... And you have a lot of special rifles to show for it......

Having anyone touch your collection of bevan's rifles woukd be sacrilege IMOP........ That rifle is a beauty and I would absolutely leave it as is........ I wish I had half his talent..

SB..........you have misread something somewhere, Bevan King was not Kevan's brother. Although they were good friends, Kevan's brothers name was Charlie. They are both very lamentably passed on now............To quote Billy Joel's song......"Only the good die young"
I know Charlie used a lot of Bevan's barrels and they were both gifted gunsmiths. Bevan was my very good friend, but I think I only met Charlie once, unfortunately, as I suspect we would have also become fast friends.

Thanks for the clarification Douglas..... lots of respect around these parts for both of their work.......
