I bought an almost new Glock 23 Gen 3. I also bought a stainless steel rod guide with a 15 lb spring. I think this is 2 pounds lighter than stock.

The gun is a bit stiff while locking up and I feel the stock spring does a better job.

The stainless steel spring has a nut and allen key to change springs. Is there anyway to take the Glock spring off that plastic rod guide and put it on the stainless one?

If you destroy the Glock rod it should be as easy as simply switching. Just pull the end off the front of the plastic rod with some pliers. I did it myself years ago with a model 20.

If the rod is the same as a gen2, use a long thin punch through the hole in the end and knock the end plug out. Then you can reuse the rod and plug if you want as the end won't be mangled from pliers.

I didn't mangle anything and was able to reuse my rod. I could see how someone could easily wreck it though. For the price of the things I wouldn't care if it broke especially if my intention was to run a metal rod.
