I currently own an Enfield rifle converted to a 45acp carbine and have a RedHawk in 45LC/45acp on the way. I have all the gear to reload 45acp but my reloading experience is mostly with 230grn RN cast lead rounds for plinking with a 1911. The rifle and revolver are a bit tougher and won't be as fussy as an auto so I would like to experiment with some different bullet weights and possibly hotter loads. Maybe even a hunting load for the rifle.

Can anyone recommend a loading manual with a large 45acp load selection that they have found particularly helpful, or suggest other resources? I can find the most popular manuals for sale online, but I'm looking for recommendations/reviews from those who have actually used them for 45acp loads. I did find a manual online that is specifically for 45acp, (Loadbooks USA "45 ACP" Reloading Manual) but I'm not sure if there is a Canadian source.

Any help is appreciated

handloads online is usually my first go-to.
handloads.com/loaddata/default.asp?Caliber=45%20ACP&Weight=All

Each gun is going to be different, there is never a specific recipe that will work well in all. That's half the fun of reloading, finding the proper combination of powder and bullet for an accurate load for your rifle / handgun. :)

Hodgdon's data center has data for heavy bullets, +P and Super.

Midway's Load Map .45ACP had, in '98, data for 240J, 250JHP and Lead, 255L and 260J bullets, mostly with traditionnal Alliant powders and W231. Maybe a more recent edition would have more.

The most interesting to me is Gun Digest 2009, 69th Ed with pages of hot loads for lead bullets including Speer's 255gr, with a variety of powders from Hodgdon (TG, 700X, Universal, 800X), along with Alliant's common ones. The author used a S&W 625.

usually you would go with the powder manufacturer's manual. in my case, I primarly use hodgdon powders, such as hs6, w231, longshot and titegroup etc, so hodgdon's web site has it all. I also bought their annual magazine to have a hardcopy handy. then hornedy manual has lots of data which I use for reference, often find some wider range loads.
