So who has a GSG STG 44 Schmeisser and how do you like it? I fondled one today and I want. Since it is impossible for me to own the real McCoy, this .22 LR copy is the next best thing. I like to shoot so if this rifle is a jam-o-matic, I would be less interested in acquiring one given the $600.00 price tag. What is the verdict?

200 meters? Your eyes are much better than mine. I'll be lucky to see a gopher at 200 meters let alone hit it. What brand of ammo are you using?

I've shot CCI mini mags and Federal Automatch through it with no issues being related to the ammo. However, the magazine that came with the gun did not feed properly and needed cleaning to get the gun cycling properly. as for the gun itself, its fairly heavy (very close to the original STG 44) compared to other semi auto 22's. The finish isn't the prettiest to look at either, i think the body is made with pot metal and looks very "splotchy". The wood stock is a really nice touch but the grip is faux wood which is strange since the stock is not lol. On any note its a great replica of an extremely iconic firearm.

Mine functions well with most ammo but it really likes CCI Standard and Federal Automatch. I haven't had any issues with the rifle or mags. It's an interesting rifle, doesn't really fit in anywhere- not a great hunting rifle, not a target rifle, but it is certainly fun to shoot. And is probably the closest I will get to the real thing.

I just held one today.... pleasantly surprised by the weight and build quality... I thought it was going to be a plastic .22. Very very impressed.... A drum mag would be neato.... but 25 rounder will be ok.... really thinking hard on this one.

That is exactly right. Its a 22 plinker that is a close visual copy (as close as they can make it) of a late WWII German assault rifle.

Just for interest sake , "Hill & Mag Gunworks" has a prototype STG 44 in the works; 7.92x33, 7.62x39, 5.56, .300 blk. According to Recoil magazine it has a MSRP $ 1,800US.

I bought one a few months back and really like it! I have had a few jams in it though but it is the mag sticking and not the action of the gun. I run mini mags. I have to get it dialed in though as it seems to shoot low and to the right
Would love to have one with more punch, If they make them and we are able to get them I would probably get the one in 7.62x39 as I have a few guns in that caliber and ammo is plentiful and cheap
