Hi All.
Sorry about the What's-it-worth thread. I did my due diligence and I can't really figure this out. I don't need this -- I'm a 6.5x55'er. I have sold a couple rifles way too cheap lately. Cheap is fine. Way too cheap is dumb.
So: For your appraisal is a totally non-matching rearsenaled (JP Sauer Und Sohn?) K98. I still has small dirty-birds. The forward receiver ring was ground and the date is gone -- but there is a faint stamp on the top and the small proof marks and number are still on the sides. Nothing peened. No matching proofs on the barrel by the receiver (There an "H" or an "I"). There are proofs on the sight base of the barrel. Some pitting on the receiver ring (but the photo makes it look worse than in the hand). The bore is shiny and excellent. The chamber is shiny. It's good under the furniture. No butchered screws. It looks like very good shooter.
Oops, this photo is flipped... It's not left-handed! (the edit isn't showing up for me -- might be my cache)
The receiver ring does look a lot worse in the photo... It doesn't look anywhere near that rust-pitty holding it outside -- even getting close....
