I recently bought a Ruger #1 in 9.3X62. After some help from some people here I decided on a vxiii 3.5-10 for it. I made myself a case for my Hornady oal tool from once fired Privi brass. I tried to chamber it and it wouldn't fit. After looking I noticed all fired rounds have a scratch and there is some brass piled up around the extractor cut out. I've contacted Snapshots and they said since it doesnt effect function they would have to check with the factory on if it would be warranty or not. 3 weeks and 2 follow ups from me have resulted in no word from them so far. It's been suggested just to polish it out but I'm not sure I want to attempt it, especially on a brand new gun.
Anyone have this issues? Suggestions?

That looks like it would be a 5 minute job for a competent gunsmith. I would just polish it out rather than go through the hassle and time lost sending it back to Ruger. It shouldn't have come like that, and Ruger should fix it, but I would rather have it in my hands than out in limbo somewhere waiting to be repaired.

Seems like trying it myself would be the quickest choice. This gun seems to have too many issues as I also have a thread about maxed out elevation on my scope...maybe it's just me!
I'm nervous to do any polishing as if it doesn't fix it they might not look at it once I've touched it. Seems to be just catching a little bit though. I pushed a little harder and a piece did slide in but put more scratches on the same spot so I'm pretty confident that's the only issue.

yes, I would too! I don't know of a good gunsmith locally around here anymore, there is one that keeps your gun for 4+ yrs and has done nothing on it and won't answer ph calls, has a sign on his door "No Walkins", and another that handles your gun like it's firewood and is a butcher, the cgn member from Garson will agree to that, and another Smith in the city, an elderly gent, I have never met him, had a few minor things done by him, but have to go through my buddy each time! There is also the "good guy" from the past that is almost retired and only takes a few jobs now. Another buddy of mine is buddies with the old dude and he says he's too old and should quite, as he sometimes screws things up! If anyone knows a "good" gunsmith in or around Wpg, please let me know.
