10/22 photos - post 'em up here!

Does anyone know if any shops are bringing in the Promag Archangel Monolithic Rail for the Ruger 10/22? I have the original Archangel 556 stock and want to upgrade to the full rail without buying the whole stock again. Thanks

I have started shooting Steel Challenge stages in my backyard and I decided I needed a "race gun" so I took a look at what I had on hand and came up with this. I had to order the Striplin Customs C-More rail to get the sight nice and low and decided to agree with little air-wolf that the Dlask 12.5" was a little heavy so I stuck it in the lathe and managed to loose 8 ugly ounces plus made myself a new comp just for the heck of it. I have the home done trigger set at 2 lbs. Kidd bolt. I do want to get a Tac-Sol SB-X barrel as soon as I can find one up here but this is great for training with right now.

elimsprint has done a great job on his steel challenge rifle, the barrel machining and home made compensator are impressive. When I shoot steel challenge with elimsprint I am using this rifle:

I recently installed the Tandemkross "Advantage" Charging Handle and Picatinny Scope Base, I am really enjoying the left side ejection handle.

This rifle has been 95-98% reliable during the very rapid fire steel challenge courses we shoot (typically 5 rounds in about 2.5-3.5 seconds). The occasional stovepiping or similar ejection issues appear to be caused by the bolt failing to travel all the way back. I have tried a variety of bolts, charging handles and springs, etc. Today in my quest for true 100% reliability I tried CCI Mini-Mags, and got 100% reliability, so this may be my new steel challenge ammo.

not a big surprise.....
I know, but I already have several other .22's that prefer Mini-Mag (Kimber 1911 conversion, CMMG AR-22, etc) and I was really trying to get this rifle to function on the cheaper Fed Auto Match that I have about 30 boxes of (and is only half the price)....oh well I just bought 4,000 rounds of Mini-Mag.

But do you think you can handle the extra recoil?

Watched some videos on the steel challenge matches, cool stuff. Looks doable on pei with our small ranges.

elimsprint, why the odd sideways cmore mount?

It brings the dot down 1" from where it would usually sit which makes for a perfect cheek weld. It is amazing how much better it feels and I shoot it like this.

Doing the SC with rimfire rifles is a hoot and any semi .22LR will do even with iron sights so will maybe get more people involved though I haven't found that around here, lol.

The targets were fairly cheap to make, we (TEG and myself) have about $250 into our set which allows us to set up any single stage and if I build some more bases and hangers we could set up 2 stages at a time but we can't get anyone to come and play with us so no need for that just yet. I used 1/4" mild steel for the plates as we are only using rimfire on them. I didn't have enough scrap of that so we had to buy that steel otherwise the cost would have been way less. After thousands of rounds the plates have some slight dimpling but that's it. If you want to build some for your club I can send you some pics of what I did or check out my video on our setup. http://www.canadiangunnutz.com/forum/showthread.php/1395757-Rimfire-Steel-Challenge-in-Kelowna
