Hi Folks.

About 25 years ago I borrowed a friend's 'tricked out' single action CZ 75 to do a bit of fun shooting. It was the most amazing gun I had ever fired, and I'd really like to get hold of one and trick it out today. However, every time I have asked at gun stores, they look at me like I have a 3rd eye and a thumb growing out of my forehead! Am I misremembering this, or was the early model CS 75 a single action? If I recall correctly, the 75 was single action, and the 85 was double action?

Thanks!

Dan

I have a original CZ 75 made in 1982 (or 88 I can't remember which, I get my revolver and the CZ mixed up for dates). It is a SA/DA however maybe you don't remember the double action as you likely didn't use it. There is no decocker so you must manually place the hammer down, which if you didn't do it would just be a single action (unless you had a dud round or something of that nature). I personally have only once used the double action, and that is just because I wanted to try it.

You are not mistaken. There IS a 75SA that is or at least used to be available. And you are right, it IS a sweetie to start with and is even better when tuned up. I'm just not sure if any of them are to be found new these days.

But don't give up hope. Contact the "usual" CZ regular parts suppliers here and in the US and ask about an SA conversion kit. It's a new straight trigger and a couple of new parts that fit between the trigger or into the small inserted frame that holds the disconnector and sear.

What you get with the SA conversion is a lack of pre-travel and an even shorter motion than the SA mode on a regular CZ.

And no, other than knowing that such kits exist I don't know who has them or what they cost. That's why I'm suggesting you email the outfits that carry CZ parts here and in the US.

Have a pre-b....it's da/sa...and one of my sweetest pistols...sa trigger is one of my best...I've always wondered why they are sooo cheap? It's one damm fine pistol....

Single Action CZ75 conversions were a very common customization by owners.

I believe that they became so common that CZ began to offer a kit.

The one I played with was a home made conversion, but there were several after market kits available.

There's also the CZ Tactical Sport. It's a bit longer barrel and bigger frame, but it's single action only. The CZ Czechmate open gun for ipsc is based on this gun. My boss has the Czechmate, and it is very nice to shoot. Canada Ammo had the Tactical Sports a couple years back and I thought about buying one.

CZ 75, 85 and SP-01 can be converted to SA.
If you don't know how and not willing to do it yourself, ask local smiths if they can do it for you but expect to pay.

Thanks all. I will be looking for a 'pre B' CZ 75 then!
Still shooting 50-100 through my Browning by Inglis Hi power 9mm when I hit the range, but getting more and more concerned about it breaking or wearing. Love shooting it, but it's a granddaddy at least! Time to let it rest and just tell stories about the good old days!

I own a CZ-75 SA,Ive have it tuned up with Angus Hobell aftermarket parts, and I also bought the Kadet kit with it as well, its one of my favorite guns to play with next to my Hi-power that been tuned with C&S parts. And I own a pre-B CZ-75 as well,Ive put several thousand rounds down it and it keeps getting better.I wish CZ would still produce the S/A its a good gun out of the box.

I would not bother. The Pre B's are DA SA just like the new ones, and have the downside of requiring the mag tunnel to be modified to accommodate the newer mags. Great guns and have the benefit of being well broken in but that is about it.

If you don't like the FPB then go with an 85 Combat and convert it to SAO. Unless you ave a specific need for a SAO gun I am not sure where the benefit is. The SA trigger on the DA/SA guns is pretty darn good and for most shooters any difference would be inconsequential as it to relates to accuracy or shoot-ability of the gun.

The 75B is a pretty nice gun and with little attention can be an excellent shooter.

Take Care

Bob

Put a new 21lb mainspring in it and don't worry about it, except to keep it lubricated.
