Always wanted one but since HMR ammo is getting pretty pricey now, I think its time for a new build.

Boyds Blaster blue
Dlask Dar22 receiver with rail
Kidd cross pin set with countersink
Kidd Charging Handle
Dlask bolt
Buffer bolt
Kidd single stage trigger
Kidd Ultra light barrel
Dlask V block
Primary Arms 6x ACSS

Also I was looking at a custom V block that I saw youtube lastnight (cant find it right now) it had a lug on the v block that you can bed into your stock that seemed to work pretty good. Anyone ever play around with one of those? How did it work out for you? Ill looks and see if I could find it....

Anything else that Im missing? Or just some helpfull info that I could use would be very appreciated.

thx

Sounds like you have something great in the making.

Did a Similar build a couple years ago and love it, the varmints however, not so much... It doesn't like cheap ammo very much, but no issue with CCI.

Didn't use a V block like you are describing though, please post some pictures of your build when it starts going together.

Make sure to order the screws for the v block if it doesn't include them, they can be hard to find at times and held my project up for a while until stock became available again.

here are some prices i worked out for my 2 builds to give ya a ball park as to what to expect.
i didnt include optics into the following lists so you'll have to add that on as well.

i dont know if i can get behind that new V-block.
how is bedding that new vblock any different from bedding the back end of your receiver?
or putting on a rear receiver tang?
and is there really that much movement in the back end?
ive never noticed it.

Sounds familiar, and yes the brake is upside down, old pic when first completed and didn't have it timed yet.

And little brother one serial number apart, same deal with the brake here, not timed yet.

Hey thanks guys for chiming in here.

This is going to be a slower build. Im hoping that Dlask keeps on with the sales as Im trying to buy a little bit of it as it goes on sale just like the bolt and receiver are on sale right now. Piece by piece. I will keep adding to this thread as it progresses. Everbody likes pictures. :)

I like the idea of the lil crow v block, but does it really help since I bed all my rifles anyways? I dont want to add that extra bolt at the back of the receiver so lets hope it will be solid enough without it. Seems that it works for alot of other poeple so it should work good for me too. This is moreless just going to be a gopher gun so Im sure it will be fine.

Thanks for the pics and write ups.

Ahh forgot to add

I wasnt thinking about it when I bought it but my blaster stock is for the factory barrel. Whatever I can open that up some to fit the thicker barrel. It aint the first time Ive had too.

I really like the look of that blue blaster there. Very nice!

I would like a blue trigger to go with the blue stock but I dont think Kidd gives that option for the single stage kit

no, kidd only comes with red triggers or black last time i checked and you cant swap them out either as the internals are done differently.
have ya looked at the Timney Triggers?
i have one on my Blue gun above, they come with blue triggers.
also you could look at getting a Brimstone job done and they will put a blue trigger on it.
or you could build your own trigger group with VQ parts and either get a power custom blue trigger or hell even paint or re-anodize your own trigger.
so many options!
thats the fun part of building a 10/22 project gun, you can go so many different ways.

id pick a Brimstone Tier 1 job over a Timney and Kidd 1 stage or a VQ parts swap any day of the week.
kidd 2 stage of course is better then all 3 of those.

since your into blue here is a Brimstone Gunsmiths Tier 1 job done on a factory ruger trigger kit and i had them put on a blue blade trigger and added a TacSol extended mag release and Brimstone sent me a blue charging handle to match my trigger (i think it was included with the tier 1 job?????)

Hey thanks for the heads up on the other options.

I have read a few good things about the Brimstone trigger jobs they do, but I think Im pretty set on that Kidd SS. Black will be fine since I shouldnt be looking down at my trigger all the time. Wouldnt hit #### then. :p

you cant go wrong with Kidd stuff.
i run the 2 stage on my big build and its worth every penny.

Hey guys I thought I would post this in my slow azz build thread instead of mucking up the dlask barrel thread.

Right now Im looking at picking up a Dlask 16.5" barrel and was wondering how balanced it will be in my Boyds blaster stock? Should I go a fluted barrel, as Im sure its front end heavy with the bull barrel? Does someone even know how much weight diff the flutes make?

MrSharp your top 1022 in the boyds looks like a 16.5" barrel. How well balanced do you think it is?

One more question while Im here.
Im just wondering if anyone has played around with the primary arms 6x acss 22lr on their 1022. I was thinking of getting a bigger scope that I could dial for reaching out there with this build, but after watching a few videos on this scope I am now learning towards getting it for my build. It seems kind of small compact and light with a great reticle. I could onlt find one place in canada that sells primary arms and thats CTSC but they dont have the 22 scope listed. Any other place in canada carry these?

You won't even notice the difference between fluted and not, I think the 16.5" in the blaster stock is a good length, as far as weight it's obviously not a light carry around all day in the pasture gun more suited for a rest, but it's not horrible if you did want to walk around a bit and plink.

An example on flutes, I have a matching pair of Savage 16.5" guns, one in .22 and fluted, one in .17 hmr and non, everything else exact same, even with the flutes and larger bore of the .22, with eyes closed can't tell what one you're holding.

Cool thanks for the comment

16.5 did seem like a good length to me too. Now that that is locked in I just have to decide on other features for the barrel.

Is there any difference in
4140 carbon steel vs 416 stainless steel?
since Im going this far how about Dlask's nitrite coated barrels? would it be worth it?
would a target chamber be better for precision over a sporter chamber?

Target is better for a custom build ONLY if you plan to shoot match ammo through it, comes down to a tighter chamber mostly, and CCI and a decent amount of bulk ammo won't feed properly in a target chamber.
I went with the 416, just a little stronger metal.

I used to take the whole fluted barrel thing way too serious. My barrels had to be fluted or else.. I wouldn't worry about it. 4140 vs 416 stainless. Wouldn't worry about it either on a rimfire rifle. Go with the colour that makes you happy. 4140 is good steel. Either way your good off. If yiur only plinking around o ammo the sported chamber is great. Mine is anyways. If you wanna shoot higher end rimfire ammo on a bench for groups get the target chamber

Hey guys thanks for chiming in here

I was reading last night on rimfire central on chamber sizes and some of the rounds that can be shot from a bentz chamber. Wish I would of saved it because I cant find it now.

Anyways I dont remember if cci minimags were one of them. By the looks of it they will be able to shoot from a bentz chamber as they look smaller then the segmented hp rounds and I heard they can be shot from one. Just inquiring on what rounds shoot in what. :)

Also on Dlask's sight they say this about their Nitride barrels "This is actually the LAST barrel you will ever need to buy for your heritage 10/22 variant rifle." That true?

thx

Had a few things out today to check what the barrel looked like with the stock so I thought I would take a pic.

Getting close and only a few more smallish things to get.

Anyone know where to get the Kidd charging handle with springs from?

I have the Kidd charging handle and just saw the Kidd guide rod and dlask handle set they posted. Honestly, it looks like the dlask charging handle is nicer than the Kidd one. It looks like it would be easier to rack the bolt with

i got mine from Dlask.
in Canada there are only 3 places that are listed as Kidd distributors, Dlask, Fabsports and JoBrooks, the last 2 i havnt seen stock Kidd stuff in the last year or so, so pretty much just Dlask.
