CZ 455 Peep sight.... I'm thinking of making them. With pics...

Hi All,

I made a peep insert that fits the factory rear sight base on my CZ 455 FS.... I like it a lot. It was made to keep exactly the same point of aim as the original notch blade -- so no front sight modification is necessary.

I'm half thinking of making them to sell. They're small, but they're not quick to make on the mill... Anyway, I'm thinking about it. There are a few things to figure out if they get made in batches... like method, material, finish and marketing (so pretty much everything). Anyway....

I wanted it small so it doesn't obscure the target. It could have a different profile... one that is concentric with the peep hole rather than the ramps on the sides.... It would be harder to make though... No CNC here.

The aperture hole is about 3/32". It works quite well. In the last picture, you should see that it'll miss the bullseye to the left.

Excellent idea.
Cast aluminum might be one way to go, then machine/ream the aperture.
I take it that you are using a Williams base and elevation traveller?

That's the original CZ 455 sight base.... Dimensionally, it's a little different from the Williams (probably metric vs 'merican). I checked when I thought their peep might work -- and save me the work. I do like that this one covers much less of the target.

Cast could be the way to go. It's a complex little thing with dovetails on each side... etc... The finish (cerakote?) is the tricky part... and takes time.... If it were steel, bluing would be faster.... but machining would take longer... Lots of humming and hawing to do.
