I'm looking to unload some of my firearms and get a AR... my question to you guys it's what should I get... looking to spend around $1500 or less and I want something fairly good on price ammo wise and I would like to get to about 300m... I've been looking at the NEA mostly cuz it's Canadian... but my buddy has one and is having issues with it striking the primer... any input from you guys would be great... anyone in here send to know a lot more then I do

With that price range you could do better especially if you are willing to get lightly used. Take your price range to the EE and see what's available if you are OK with that route. You have 3 posts so you may not be able to access it yet but I'm sure you will find something to suit you there. The title of your thread is a little misleading. You need 3 or 4 ar's but you will figure that out after the first one lol

You can get a colt for that price.

Or a Norinco plus a pile of ammo, lol!

Not trashing Colt (have 3 myself), not trashing Norc either(used to have one before).

The latter is a good starter AR, but you can get lucky sometimes and find lightly used to BNIB ones for less than $700 EE. Saw a used Norc for $550 the other day, was almost tempted to grab it for a beater AR.

Put over 5,000 rounds through my Norc before I sold it, never had any issues other than it wasn't as pretty as my Colts :)

Check out Marstar, they're a site sponsor.
They don't have any at the moment but you can sign up for notifications.
Plus they have regular sales and you can get decent gear for good prices.

I was hoping to find something that ellwoodepps carries since I'm selling a few guns to get a AR and what I can sell i was going to trade in there

Do you want to spend $1500 for it and then buy mags and optics or do you want to have a total investment of $1500?
Is there a range near by that has some members with AR platforms.

Make a check list of things to look for like rate of twist, barrel length, sights or no sights, stocks, and accessories.
You can start with a plane Jane gun learn to shoot it and then decide what you would like to have on it.
I have probably had about 25 or 30 AR platforms over the past 40+ years. I have had a number of interesting things for them, some pure CRAP and some very simple and useful. Now that everyone is making them you don't have to pay an arm and a leg and be limited to just a Colt.
Recently I have sold two Colt H-Bars and I wanted to put a flat top receiver on one but found out it was going to be a pain in the A** to find a few things to do the job. I sold them and went back to my Armalite that I got from Richard a few years ago.
My carbine and rifle both have adjustable stocks and its great for me as I am vertically challenged (5' 5")
If you want to shoot distance invest in good optics and a good trigger system.
Don't load it up with everything you can think of, keep it simple.
That's my two nickels as we don't use pennies

I have no issue with a used gun... I'm looking to spend as little as possible obviously... but up to $1500 with a few mags and a decent optic for now then I can move forward with it as I see fit... I'm looking for a flat top preferably without the m16/m4 looking round forend I like the one with rails
