Beretta 92S surplus pistols (Heel Mag release)? Anyone buying?

IRG had a pile of 92S surplus a while ago, maybe last year? i think they were going for $395 USD and even at that price with a not-so-$hitty exchange rate, there was a bit if pushback from the community about the price.

Wrong. I bought a surplus 92FS from them for that price, around 15% exchange at the time. Modern mag release, not the "S" model.

Marstar's thread in their section is locked f:P:

Apologies, misinformation on my part, I thought IRG brought them in, but it was only a suggestion from forum members:

They were listed for $295 USD, don't recall if any Canadian retailers got them or not....wonder if the ones Marstar got are the same batch as these?

Lol about the Marstar thread....talk about a trainwreck.

Wherever TradeEx got them, unsure. Make no mistake, our dollar is about 15% lower than it was then and I'm sure a healthy markup was applied all down the way. Puts the pricing pretty close to a new Girsan or used 92FS on the EE.

I've got a pair of the Girsan models, a full size and a compact, both new for $450 each a couple years back. They are well made 92F clones, no issues with them at all.
I would not pay what they are asking for these 92S pistols....maybe $300-$400 tops.

Willing to be the US ones last year came from tge same place ours are now. Differences in import times between countries perhaps.

No idea how much the dealers need to make a profit on them, but if they were $400 or even maybe $450 they would fly off the shelves. I don't expect any action shooters would want them with the mag release button on the end, but if they were that price, lots of guys would be into nice pistol at Norinco prices.

My thought exactly.
Too expansive for a used gun, when you can buy a new Girsan.
But if you want a "collector" then go for it
The only thing going for it is somewhat collector appeal....it was the 92S the US military first adopted.
For something to shoot a lot, I would buy a Girsan or M9.

I know what Swiss 210's and Luger's go for in Switzerland. Judging by Tradex's prices on them, the markup on the Berreta's is at least 100%

How can you make such a harsh statement?

Don't you know that most dealers are in business out of the goodness of their hearts, and their love and support towards their customers?

The vast majority of them are barely making ends meet, and are regulars at the local food banks.

One thing I do know, Tradex bought these all in - including the Marstar inventory. Lately Marstar has been re-selling a few Tradex products, and this is one of them. Heard it from a Tradex employee, so I believe it. The fellow I know who is "in the know" about such things said that they ARE surplus from an Italian agency, though the Marstar thread claims otherwise.

They likely did not come through the USA as they are not import marked - Tradex tends to import direct from Europe.

The sample picture showed a near perfect unissued looking pistol. Worth the money if I needed one for the collection and not to compete. The sample picture in Marstar's site has many visible flaws in the finish. It may be mechanically VG but obviously issued and finish worn. Not collectible, just a plinker. Best guess it should sell +/- $500 with the flaws and only 1 mag. To Marstars credit they do offer a case and holster also for $10 more upgrade from VG to EX condition. Too bad the website designer was lazy and showed the VG pic on the excellent example.

I would want pictures of the actual firearm being purchased.

With the low Canadian dollar ; prices are bound to be higher . Many folks like surplus firearms for their history , so I am sure that these pistols will sell . At least Tradex is giving Canadians a chance to buy one if they so desire....

Doesn't matter what they paid for them or how much profit they try to make on them.
If they are priced too high they won't sell .
In my opinion these surplus pistols are way over priced & I won't be adding one to my collection .
But hey I've only been collecting for 35 yrs , what the hell do I know
No surprise Marstars thread turned into a train wreck & was closed . (Old school customer relations )
