Deer calls

Op..... If hunting the ore rut period, learn how to rattle...... It can be very effective...... And easy

Get a call like carverk's to stop deer lacing the area...... Or a a grunt tube.....

If you want to try calling a buck in that is in the vicinity but not coming to your stand, try a bleat can..... I use mine for when I head to my stand..... After making the noise made heading in I upset off a few bleats to make it seem I am a deer moving in and not a human.....

Neat......

My experience is mostly with whitetails...... And in my experience, nothing beats rattling in regards to calling in whitetails......

Yes, that works for whitetails but mule deer are much less likely to respond unless they are deep into the rut when they lose all common sense. . Most antlered mule deer seasons in BC are shut down during the peak of the rut just for that reason.

You don't want to know my views on mulies...... I think they are 6 parts retarded......

I had 6 doe's and fawns com right up to me well working the deer call a big doe walked right in frunt of me just as a nice 4 Point buck stepped out of the bush
I had no shot with the doe in my way so I did the first thing that popped in my head with out thinking Big mistake Haahaa
I gave her a poke with the Business end of my rifle
She jump so did all the other deer so hear I am deer jumping all around me just feet away !
When the dust settled no buck no doe's and no fowns nothing but me Laughing at myself
Calling deer is extremely addictive if your good at it you will need a hard hat haahaa

I just step out the door and yell "who wants COB" and this happens

and afterwards,

or check out baby bucks, lol.

LOL you live out by Quail Ridge in Kelowna eh? Oh wait nvm your on the other side of the airport rittich Rd area eh? My understanding is you can't hunt there lol

But dang.... doesn't help that you have those orchards around though eh?

Love the pics and don't worry if I got the area right I drove cab for two years in Kelowna. Used to pick one up from the rittich Rd area.

Well ill be letting you guys know in 10 hrs or so how it went. If you hear laughing around 4-6 am assume I'm amusing myself lol

Actually I'm not in Kelowna, I'm in the regional district so yes I can hunt here, many dead coyotes will attest to that, lol.

My brother lives right next to some train tracks that run down the edge of a big bushy hillside where a lot of dear bed. Every evening the deer head out to fead at some farmland on the edge of town. We usually grab a few beer and I'll try some calling. My experience is its how you use the call. If you just blow through it, they just ignore it. It's just a matter of trying to give it a realistic tone, and sequence. Also Whitetail are ALOT smarter than Mulies. And a lot more skiddish. The best thing I've used all round is probably the Can. Gets the most responses. And sometimes they will move in closer to investigate. Especially Mulies. Never used them hunting before cause my buddies basically just want to drive around my uncles farm and wait for a shot. Tired of that, so goin out on my own this year to try some real hunting.

I have start using a call about September but it's slow as the closer to the rut the better the response with fown in distress
I don't go crazy on the call just one Evan blast every 5 seconds about 6 time if nothing then I blow a couple of blast about 10 to 15 min a part
I only use the call wen I see a doe if ther is a doe you know dam well ther is a buck near buy
The idea is to bring in the doe in close and have the buck follow her
After the rut a call will not work and the doe's run a way

Sorry if this is off topic; but does anyone know how to make or where to buy the little (around 2x2 inches) deer calls that make a bleat noise? Guys use them to stop running deer, you wear them around your neck on a lanyard.

c90, I believe you're referring to the Deer Talker call, I know Wholesale Sports sells those as likely do a lot of other hunting stores.
