Hey all. Once again I find myself here with more questions than answers. I recently purchased an older Leupold scope in the EE and I can't find any info about it's age. On the Leupold website, they say that in 1974 the factory started introducing letter suffixes to the serial numbers to identify the date of manufacture. As you can see by the pictures, there is no letter in the S/N.

So does this mean that I have a 34+ year old rifle scope? The glass is near perfect but the tubes do have some bumps due to the age. Is this something that Korth would still warranty? I'm more casually curious than anything, but any info would be great.

imo, send it in to korth.

Its an ooooold scope. They are an authorized repair center, they can handle it. At the very least they can do a once over and clean/grease etc the internals.

My experience with Korth is they warranty everything! I once sent in an old pre-gold ring scope my grandfather had from probably the fifties or sixties. I told them in a letter that I was wondering if it could be refurbished as the optics were no longer clear but it was a handy light fixed power scope. I did not expect warrant and offered to pay. They replied by sending me a brand new FX2 free of any charge. If the bumps are just cosmetic I wouldn't worry but if it fails I have no doubt they will hook you up.
