Opinions wanted, looking for my first whitetail deer gun, 25-06 or 243, 270 Win

Who said the 270 was the best cartridge ever? Of the three cartridges mentioned I personally think its the best choice, especially if larger game is on the menu or shots up to 400 yds.

I'm also glad I'm not the only one who uses the word cereal in place of serious....except I've always spelled it serial.

In either case, I'm sure they think you're after their lucky charms.

Someone told me all this stuff about how .270 isn't used in matches. Well do you see any Browning shotguns in world cup or olympic trap and skeet? Nope. Are they ####ty guns? Absolutely. My point is the .270 isn't used because its the best so they don't use it to make it a challenge.

Now I know yer plum lowkoe.
Brownings are............................fruck, can't type it.

Dun swawllered two many marbles...............huh?..................f:P:2:

Don't know when you're going to get it though your head's but the .270 is the best cartridge in the entire world. There is no need to try any other cartridges when you've already tried the best.

Cereal notwithstanding, the 270 is more than enough proof to show that the 30-06 is the only case on the planet, that can't have the suck necked out of it.

I shoot a 230gr Berger OTM out of the .30-06 that smokes even factory .300 Win Mag loads.

The .30-06 is excellent and is not being used to its full potential.

I like how you have now gone and started a whole new troll fest with 30-06 shooters but the fact is, the .270 comes from the 30-03 not the 30-06. Which clearly means non .270 shooters don't have a clue to what reality is. Like Browning shotgun owners.

I see a lot of 300 win mag and 7mm mag rifles for sale with a box or so of ammo though them. Sold shortly after the person new to shooting bought them, because they kick too hard and the blast is too uncomfortable. They always end up getting a .308 or 30-06 after.

Not really sure why "facts" would start to be considered at this point in the discussion?
No matter how hard anyone tries, a 30-06 isn't a 300 Win Mag. A fella can load down a 300 Win Mag easily enough to match anything a 30-06 can do, but the 30-06 can't be loaded up to match a 300 Win Mag. Those are actual facts, and not pretend ones.

230gr Berger OTM.
Norma .30-06 brass. H1000/RL22 and other slow burning powders will easily get you above 2620fps.

Even with 55gr H4350 with a 180gr you can hunt moose, deer, black bear, caribou with the same zero.

People here were bashing the .30-06. The 30-06 is excellent.

You don't need a 300 Win Mag for deer.
