The EOSC IDPA NSOC is intended to give new IDPA shooters the skills necessary to compete in IDPA safely. This is not a beginner’s course and is not designed to teach a new shooter how to shoot. It is expected that you will have basics of pistol shooting before taking this course. We will be able to help you fix minor issues as we see them however.
The EOSC IDPA New Shooters Orientation Course (NSOC) takes place over 3 days and an online test.
Day 1 of the course is a meet and greet, this is where you will see if this is what you want to do and for us to make sure you that you meet the basic marksmanship requirements. We will run you through a few drills to make sure that you will complete the course safely. One of these drills will be to shoot a piece of paper with 10 rounds from 20 yards on your own time. Typically this will only be a morning/afternoon not a full day, usually only a couple of hours.
After you complete Day 1 you will be given access to an online test in regards to the IDPA rulebook. This will test your knowledge of the IDPA rules and code of conduct. The test is multiple choice and open book. You will be given 3 hours to complete 60 questions. You must receive a minimum grade of 80% to pass. You will have 2 attempts to complete the test. New Shooters typically have just under a week to complete this test.
Day 2 and 3 of the course are nonstop 9-5 shooting days. This is where you will learn the practical side to competitive shooting. This also includes a 3 stage mini-match. Lunch will be provided on Day 3 only.
Course Dates:
Meet and Greet: July 16th 9AM – 12 NOON
Day 2: July 30th 8:15AM to 5PM
