I just signed up for the Tavor course at Abby this August. I've owned the rifle for a couple of years and shot it in a 3-Gun event, but want some Tavor-specific training.
Anyone whose had the course got some suggestions, pointers, comments ...... ? Other than the beauty of Lovie, that is.

I do have a red dot optic on it that co-witnesses with the BUIS and a new as yet unmounted variable scope with PEPR mount. I can ring our 300m gong with the red dot from prone, so I'm not overly concerned about shooting to 100m at Abby.

Got the knee pads and both a good belt and/or shoulder harness. Mags aplenty, including LAR 15 type. Tavor is '0'd for 100m, capable of hitting 300m gong with same sight setting. Savvy Sniper sling installed.

I was warned that it might be quite physical. I do daily push ups, hand stand push ups, chin ups, sit ups. Bring it on ..... !

I take it that a lot of shooting will be done from kneeling, the most unstable shooting position possible.

I remember being slung up in the sitting position and having an NCO walk down the line saying - "Soldier, I'm going to push down on your rifle barrel, and I want to see your a$$ come off the ground." That's military slung up. As good as prone.

Part of my weight training is leg work as I rehab a damaged knee and leg muscle. Should be up and running well by August. Got a good incentive!

Like Mike said, workout and do lots of interval training lol. There is a lot of sprinting and stopping then going to kneeling then standing then kneeling then standing then kneeling then standing then kneeling then standing then kneeling then standing then kneeling then sprinting then sprinting then standing then kneeling then standing then kneeling lol... I think you get the idea. A plate carrier with plates isn't a good idea, unless you can run the weight. Awsome course though. Really neat to get a different perspective on shooting and a whole new technique and style of shooting. Definitely recommend it and would love to do it again or a stage 2 advance course if they run one.

Yea definitely a 2 point sling. I found I like the tavor slung on my strong side, carries on the back better and can go right to ready position quickly.

Would Zahal allow the use of "Strange" bullpups in lieu of a Tavor?

I only happen to own a T97 FTU/Lower and FS2000 [Sandard/scoped] currently.

Cheers!

As before:

Theoretically there wouldn't be an issue. All our stances and drills would still transfer over to another bullpup platform. But you might find you're losing some value when we go through the disassembly and maintenance portions of the course, as they are Tavor specific.

It would be fun to have some other bullpups out though! We can confirm that we'll have our first X95 student at our US course next month.

We just need to get the X95 approved here so we can get our greedy hands on them
