To the RPR owners would you buy it again ?

I would buy Again,

I bought my complete set up all in one go, rifle/glass/rings/bipod. I took it out to the range once, went from 50 -800 yds. next time out with the rifle I was able to shoot a match out to nearly 1200 yds all just going off of a shooter app,

placed third until I was out of ammunition, but while I was shooting I was placing higher than guys whos optics alone were worth more than the sum total of my entire setup, I think that is the essence of the rifle and what makes it such a great value.

mine is in 6.5 and easily shoots sub moa, often .5 moa all day long, no complaints.

You can get into a CADEX for around 5-5500, so a bit less than your 6K but yeah, it is getting up there. I was $2500 into just the chassis for my .308 after taxes (CDX Lite Strike), so it certainly depends on component selection as to what makes sense, every case is going to be different and there are certainly ones where the RPR makes sense :)
 
I don't own the RPR, only put 2-3 rounds through one last week. I think it is a fine rifle, but my shooting partner bought a Tikka T3 Varmint in 308, dropped it into a MDT HS3 chassis with their skeleton butt stock and with two ten round accurate mags he was less than $2000 invested and I think it is the better rifle.
 
I just ordered some 10 round PMags, I'll let you know once I have them, although might not help you out as mine is a .308 and the factory actually feed flawless for it just loading them and the rattle is bugging me.

yah the rattle sucks, with the 6.5 if you don't load them PERFECTLY, your going to have a bad time.

Where are you getting a enhanced RPR for $1650 ..... I am looking to buy a RPR .. thanks
 
Bought a Kahles 6-24 scope some time back and was looking at building a rifle to put under it, bolt and chassis. Then heard about the RPR's, ordered one in 6.5, picked it up and then had a hell of a job finding 34mm rings to fit. Finally bought some last week, mounted the scope on Fri night, and went to a gong shoot on Sat morning. My son sighted it in, sent a box of factory ammo downrange, worked out what to do with the scope. And then I tried it - holy #### that thing can shoot! Staight to 300, hit that, then to 600, hit that, what the hell, try the 1000 [and thats metres] and smacked that! They are $2499 here in NZ, a custom was gonna cost me about $5000. First impressions are they are a bit agricultural, ever so slightly, but I can put up with that for the price. The 6.5 is a bit heavy but I aint planning on hunting with it so that dont matter. Straight out of the box they are ready to go, easy to mount a scope and bipod. and so much fun to shoot with. The ones shipped to NZ come with P mags, and they work great.
Three other shooters tried it out, 2 have ordered one just on that one day alone. Would I buy again, hell yeah, am planning on getting a 308 when I get home from Canada in Nov. Will flute the barrel to lighten it, and fit a suppressor that fits back in to the foreend, and then have 2 long range guns to play with. Definitely good value for money and an easy entry in to long range shooting.

Doing some seating depth tweaking, 2.445 was mag length used before I had a C.O.L gauge, which I just got today and found out my lands are 2.412" not using the proper bullet comparator bushing but can still use it to gauge depth.

This is in 6.5cm and with simple reloading I'm confident to say that's a 1/2 MOA gun (same results out to 300m)
 
Has anybody on here replaced the handguard/forend?
Is the nut that holds the handguard the same one that holds the barrel (like on an AR-15)?
Or is it 2 separate nuts?

Basically, I am curious if you will have to re-zero the rifle when swapping handguards.

It's a separate nut, but likely best to remove your scope to do it, I removed mine and clamped the receiver in a vice to loosen the nut.

If you did just upgrade the 700 you would have a rife that will shoot very well not playing a guessing game with a stock rifle off the shelf. What I am seeing with the rpr is that some shoot some don't it is a gamble with any factory rifle. If you troll the ee you can get a good price on a lot of what you would need to do a build as well and for less then new prices. Personally from what I have seen in stores with the rpr I would do a built before paying 1700+tax for the ruger. If they were selling for the 900-1000 like in the usa I could see the value in that.
 
Anyone charging $1700 isn't selling any, most places are in the $1500 and change range, I paid $1467 for mine brand new from a dealer.

What retailer is selling for 1500 in Canada? All I see is 1600 or 1700. the rest are just old prices and out of stock.

Check with North Pro Sports in Saskatoon, actually call them, their website has the .243 on for $1467 and when I got my .308 from him this spring he did the same price on it for me.

I've also seen dealer adds with the yellow background in the EE section advertising for sale, there is an add right now $1425, and have seen them on sale if I recall correct in the past at frontier arms for $1500-1550 again call them and ask what kinda deal they can give you now, most retailers will come down a bit if you are serious with the credit card info or EMT.

Oh. Yea the 243 is normally cheaper. The 308 and 6.5 is more popular and usually more expensive.
 
I paid 1499 for mine (6.5 Creedmoor) in the spring from a dealer in Prince Rupert, BC (J&E's Tackle)...wasn't the list price but good guys to deal with. :)
